I hate when people say “no go see a professional” and all that; I had my helix professionally pierced at 16 and it got infected and kept falling out even after cleaning it like I was supposed to; but my sister pierced my helix a year ago and it healed with no problems and I did my double helix a week ago myself and it’s super unproblematic. Yes maybe it’s wise to see a professional but doing it yourself doesn’t guarantee a bad outcome, just as a professional doesn’t guarantee a good one.

Salt water isn't a cleaning solution before pierced. Clean with alcohol. Once pierced use salt water to clean. Salt water helps with healing not as sterile to clean before pierced.

I'm not giving any hate, but just for people that plan to do this themselves, please be SO careful and educate yourself as much as possible! There's a nerve that is very close to the tragus and some not cool things can happen if you damage it! Everyone says, "That can only happen if your piercer is doing a shit job" but that's a TRAINED piercer none the less. If you're doing this at home you're likely not trained so it COULD happen. Not saying everyone who does it at home will hurt themselves, just be careful!

Don't listen to all these stupid people, you actually did a great job but I would have used a sterilized 16 gauge 1/2'' (12 mm) long straight bar with a flat disc at the end. And about the lube? My piercer used lube when she did my nostril. You were so brave. I also want to this on my own (i've already pierced my own ears multiple times) but the tissue seems to thick and I'm afraid I would get the neddle just halfway through. Did it hurt that bad? AND FOR EVERYBODY TALKING MYTHS ABOUT HOW A TRAGUS PIERCING CAN PARALYZE HALF OF YOUR FACE PLEASE GO READ AN ANATONY BOOK. Julia Geraldes I’m not really on any bodies side here, but you definitely should NOT use a size larger. Everybody says it’s good for swelling, but it’s actually worse. If you use a size larger and it swells, it may engulf the piercing into your ear and you may not be able to get it out. If you do it right, there shouldn’t be TOO much swelling to the point where you need a size larger needle. Hope I helped. ❤️

Every ones heals diferant but you will run in to things like you will get it cought on a towle or you will bump it but other than that you should be ok and the healing process was smoth other than the bumps just clean it 2-3 times day and you should be set and depending on if you go and get it done by another person the will say a year befor you can chang it but you can change it after the crust, pus and swelling goes away.. thats what i did and mine is perfect.

I have at-home piercings too! Rook, helix and conch. It's always a gamble to do them at home where you have less control of how "sterile" or disinfected things are but I am willing to take the gamble for a significantly lower price and the badassery of piercing myself. Piercings go wayyyyy back and there weren't autoclaves and Lysol in ancient tribes. To be honest, there's a risk involved anywhere you get pierced, even if the room is stark white and smells of bleach you can still get an infection. It's a matter of how well you prepare and handle things and how willing you are to take the risk. ALWAYS use the right tools (hollow needles, proper initial jewelry) and look up tons of piercing videos for reference. So piercers are RECOMMENDED but as per my case I was underage and going against my parents' wishes haha. All is well, I healed perfectly. Shit goes downhill if you're doing shit like piercing cartilage with guns and doing piercings with safety pins in the school bathroom...you know what I mean?

remember that not everybodies tragus CAN be pierced, if it is to small theres a really really high risk of numbing one side of your face permanently and even if it is not tooo small remember that this part is extremely delicate and there are a lot of nerves running through the tragus and if you hit one of them it can damage you permanently.

$50 to $80 per percing? that is expensive I got my Dave done for £25, vertical labret £25, face dermal £25 and my septum was the most expensive at £35 those are just the recent ones that I can remember the price of. I'm going to get my tragus done I think and that will be £30 as I'm going somewhere that's a bit more expensive due to my regular piercing place being closed for the winter as I'm in a seaside town.

If you are going to pierce at home, I'd recommend buying a cork online instead of the pencil top because it is a lot easier on the skin; your skin around the needle won't "tent up" as it does with a hollow piece. ^_^ I pierced my conch at home because I'm trying to build a portfolio to become a piercing apprentice. I used a 14g needle, 14g 3/8" labret stud, a sanitation wipe, a cork, a sanitized marker (one of those in the packages like the needles come in), soapy water, and sea salt spray.

I ordered all of this stuff off Amazon. Waited to collectively receive it all - & I literally pierced my tragus 10 mins ago lol. I know exactly what you mean about the "crunch' sound.. It didn't hurt much just a pinch.. but I heard 5 or 6 distinct and loud POP's lolol that was probably the worst part. The needles I ordered were 14g so they were bigger & that was my fault for not paying attention when ordering.. but my jewelry of choice fit right inside the hollow of the needle & made transferring the jewelry such a quick and painless process. Thanks for making this video!! It was super helpful. EDIT: Also, could you do a quick piercing update video on the ones you've done yourself?

I got my Tragus pierced in November. The piercer used a captive bead and I wasn’t a fan. I ended up changing it to a straight bar. It will swell. it’s annoying. Wash with clear fragrance free and dye free soap (I didn’t do that). Just FYI if any of you are thinking about this piercing. Sterile sea salt spray is good for aftercare but definitely wash with soap morning and night.

If you are confident you are doing it correctly snd you are keeping everything clean and using sterilized equipment and you are diligent with after care there's absolutely no difference than going to a shop to get it done. I've done several piercings at home. Never had any issues. I'd prefer to do my own.

Uh....no, that's incorrect. A piercing shop has better sterilization procedures and better quality jewelry. Plus, THEY'RE PROFESSIONALS!!!!! They have a better understanding of body anatomy & can provide better aftercare instructions. Tellnig folks "Hey! You can pierce yourself at home!" is responsible & asking for trouble (infections, rejections, etc.). if you’re ever gonna pierce your own ears i’d recommend aswell as using the sterile needles, order an earring that comes sterilised. crazy factory is an online website that has many options! (i’ve pierced my own cartilage with a sterile needle and sterile earring and it’s healed completely fine)

I just got mine done myself! You really encourage me and I guess I also trust and know my body that I didn’t need to go to a professional. I tried to do a round earring but was hard to get thru I even put the needle twice to get the right earring in 😛. Loved your video and have to say you did a better job than I did! 👍🏽💪🏽

Omg I only have my like lobes pierced and then my cartilage (I want more piercings) but I would never be able to do a piercing myself!! piercing at home is absolutely fine i pierced my second holes by my self when i was eleven and im twelve now and they are absoutely fine and i have never had an infection in them. i just got a pair of earings and shoved them through my ear when i was at school, i didnt use a needle or gun!! ( it was kind of a stupid idea ) but what im trying to say is its not a big deal and i dont know why people are making fuss over it, its your body and its up to you what you do with it! and i just want to say that you are realy pretty with and without makeup xxx

If anyone is thinking about doing this themselves, please be very careful. There is a nerve inside your tragus and if you hit that nerve, that whole side of your face will be permanently numb and often times droop from the nerve damage. Just be careful!

I recommend using a cork to put on the needle tip after it goes through the back; however, if you chose to pierce from the back going forward using a Labret stud I would use Septum forceps. They make septum tagus forcepts.

Don't worry about the comments,I've done all my piercings at home .None of them ever got infected ,mostly because I sterilized everything like crazy and immediately did a sea salt solution on them(homemade).But I plan on getting some piercing spray.

hailey:) I pierced mine at home but wouldn't recommend it. It healed fine and everything but the skin,cartilage/scar tissue there are really tough and you need a clamp and everything. You also can really hurt yourself if you go to deep.

hailey:) I've pierced mine at home what you will need is a 14g needle ,gloves,sterilized area,clean hands all the way up to the elbow,and rubbing alcohol 70% or up to clean the area your piercing ,also a marker to pierce your desired area .You will also need clamps ,you can do homemade such as butterfly clamps that hold food bags closed and such.It shouldn't hurt and if you want the least amount of pain take pain killers and rub oral gel on the area to numb it .(Watch Self-Piercing Videos) never use safety pin or sewing needles and clean with sea salt .

Elizabeth Young aspirin is actually the best method. Tea tree oil burns skin. Aspirin is recommended by piercers and doctors. And having 20 piercings and several piercers as friends and family I think I should know a little about what good and bad
