Great video! I'm an old guy(71) who loves the challenge of disc golf. Thanks for all of the good tips!

For a newbie who had no idea, until recently, that disc golf was even a 'thing,' and while instructional videos on techniques are helpful hints, for me I find it most helpful if I can understand what the professional player is thinking; how he/she selects the right disk, the right line, the right run-up. Your videos have been the most helpful because you understand how to instruct the "pre-kinder" player. :) Thanks.

Great tips, especially about the mental game and managing expectations of how close you are to the basket. I’m in NC so basically every course looks like that hole 3. If I hit my gaps off the tee, I mentally tell myself good job regardless of where the disc ends up. If I hit a tree after my gaps, that’s unfortunate but I did my job.

Your videos are great! Could you do one of acutally hitting the line you imagine? And another one (or it might be the same) - how to release the disc? Should it actually snap? Do you release/open your hand, or is early/late release just based on how soft/hard your holding the disc? Keep up the awesome content!

one way to test for wind is when walking to the next tee, notice if there's a breeze and where it may be coming from. Feel if it's consistent in one direction or not. While dropping grass may help show the breeze at the spot, the wind could change 100 ft down the throwing line.

@johnshepherd69253 жыл бұрын
Question...when you drove the second time on hole 2, you put on the screen early release. I also hear people say they grip locked it or a late release. Shouldn't the disc just be ripping out? I shouldn't have to think about when to let go of the disc should I? And if that's the case, what causes early release? Not a firm enough grip maybe? And I'm guessing a late release might be a rounding issue? I guess my big question is should I actively be thinking about when to release the disc?
@RobbieCDiscgolf3 жыл бұрын
Great question John. I don’t believe you should be thinking about letting it go. I focus on a hit point that I want to get to for the disc to accelerate out. When something happens to be off though it causes that early release. This could be timing, poor footwork, etc. I wouldn’t focus on releasing the disc per say, but would focus on getting to a specific hit point of your throw.

I was shocked how anhyzer you sent hole #2!! Great result though. I have a Warden I should try that shot on 200ft holes.

Robbie: "I'm gonna tell myself, you've made shots like this before. Why is it any different today?" Me: "Because your filming 😈" Thanks for this. It's great following a better than me player through a course and talking through the decisions that need to be made. Super helpful!

Maybe do some longer wooded holes or may uphill/downhill holes. Great video learned something new. I've been playing off and on for almost 20 years, but it wasn't until a couple of years ago I started getting serious. My friends and I are around the 50 mark or older, and my kids in their 20's and 30's love playing just for the fun of it. Wished I was a lot younger when I found out about disc golf may have took it more serious. But being the age I am my best throw is roughly 300' with my best driver. So yes, you breaking it down and playing for strokes instead, is a great idea. Thank you very much.

You're awesome dude. Can someone explain "beefy"?
@RobbieCDiscgolf4 жыл бұрын
Zach Shaw great question! It usually means Overstable or tending to finish on a hard hyzer to the ground. For a right handed back hand throw it means it’s going to fight left for most of it’s flight. The opposite effect happens on a left handed back handed throw or a right handed forehand. The beefy discs or some people call them “meat hooks” will be incredibly reliable for how hard they fight and can cut through wind!
