I love the fact that she took her time and went step by step. A lot of sites take it for granted that you know what they are talking about when may not have a clue. You look and act like a normal person. Thank you so very much.

I have had thinning hair for a few years now and it just continually gets worse. I am so proud of you for showing your hair (mine is much thinner by the way) because it shows your confidence in WHO you are! I am just to the point - get all the info you can- stage so I can be prepared when I choose a wig. It's definitely scary for me............ THANK YOU again...... now to watch more of your videos!

You inspired me! I am so tired of fighting with my hair which I have lost so much of after having covid. I've just cut it all off. My natural hair was midway down my back when I had covid. It started coming out in huge clumps and I was devastated. I started watching your site and thanks to you I've fallen in love with wigs. Thank you so much for your videos.

Thanks for your tutorials. I've been a wig specialist for almost 20 years. A good tip is to also bring forward the front hairline of your own hair like you do your sides and integrate it in the front of your wig. Place your wig slightly behind your hairline and then brush the front of your hair into the edges and it will show your own hairline. (This won't work in a lace front wig though.) Also a good tip is to sew wig clips into the inside of the wig and you can clip it in and not worry about securing all your hair like that as it will hold in place. If the wig has extra space in the back you may need a petite size or need to do a basic alteration to take up some of the wefts and it will fit flatter in back. Turn up the back nape of the wig and if it sits flat when you do that then you know you need to take it up. It's a simple alteration! If the back of your head is flatter without a good occipital ridge, the wig will slip up the back of the head. That's a little harder to fix but wig clips help. We can't do that with a chemo or alopecia patient though. I learned a couple tips from you I didn't know! Good job! And Elizabeth is one of my favorites!

Karen C, Thank you for posting this information. I have a larger head, and it is also flat in the back. (LOL Lucky me) Other than sewing clips into the back of the wig, do you have any tips for keeping it from riding up.

Perfect! I so appreciate this video Jill. Thank you! I would like to add a little warning to all those that may have sensitive skin issues. Most adhesives say, "Discontinue use if irritation occurs." So, as with any new product, I do a skin test first, and leave on overnight. I'd rather have a small area of irritation rather than my entire head. And, I did test a small area with "It Stays," and did not experience any problems whatsoever. So I am good to go. And, thanks to you, Jill, I know how to use it with my very first wig. Yay!! Thanks again!!

I wear a wig grip instead of using glue or clips. My wig never moves at all with my wig grip and it doesn't show, even through lace front/monofilament tops! I hope you have found your wig that makes you feel like your beautiful self! I've been wearing them for over 8 yrs. and it was a roller coaster since I have a large head. I went through so many disappointments and many tears, thinking I would never look normal again. I feel like myself again and we all deserve to have that feeling!

First, let me thank you. You are a most gracious and unselfish woman and your tutorial has helped me enormously. Due to your tutorial I ordered a bottle of IT STAYS and boy, it stays. As long as I remain dry my wig stays in place. Sweating is NOT a good idea, but that so seldom happens I won't worry about it. I have just purchased my first lace front wig and I love it. The variety of styling available is wonderful and I love being able to let a little of the hairline show. I do have a question and possibly a suggestion for another video. How do you clean your wig? What products do you use? How often do you use it. By the way, since my hair is so thin and fine and silky I struggled with trying to hold it in place and finally got good and sick and tired of it, so I cut it off. I used clippers and a guide that left my hair approximately 1 inch to 1.5 inches long. I shave the back of my neck, and I left the sides long enough to comb into my wig hair at the sides. This has made my life so much better I can't tell you. I will not bother to color the hair that goes under my wig, except the sides. The savings is considerable and pays for the IT STAYS. Bless you, on behalf of all the balding little old ladies in the world.

Use a wig cap. Putting a wig straight on your hair is a massive mistake. A flesh tone wig cap helps protect the wig from you. Use a cap. 2 bucks. Use a cap. Also, if you use It stays under the front off the cap to secure it, the wig will stay. Use a cap.

Thanks for showing what all you go through. I have baby fine hair, too. I have used tiny rubber bands, gel, headbands, you name it and I keep coming back to those clips. They are my favorite. A nice strong hair spray, a few clips, especially at the front and base, and my wigs stay on all day.

Thanks for watching. ;) I have tweaked things a bit ...just use IT STAYS in the front perimeter, and wig tape in the nape area. I think the key is experimenting until you find the way that works the best! Wig wearing is so individual down the fit, color , and styles we like! THanks so much, Cynthianne (LOVE YOUR NAME) for watching and sharing what works for you!! Many will find your tip helpful!

I’m SO very grateful for this particular video. Every one of my wigs slip back when people hug me….to the point of entirely falling off! My measurements are for “average”…but they fall off quicker. I have used wig headbands, bobby-pins (which can’t be used at all on mono tops, possible see through on wefts…sock caps slip off & pony tails work to keep the back secured below the occipital bone. I’ll try your method & get the glue. Trying to keep longer hair because I swim & it keeps it off my neck easily to wear up …in a very hot 🥵 climate & doctor wants me to be self isolated from compromised immune system (pandemic, flu season, respiratory thing). So I wear basically to the store & around the house ~ for now. Can NOT wait to try! Again, I thank YOU 🙏🏽 for taking the time to share your method & experience. Also , this wig looks super on you…cut & color both. Maybe I’ll cut the sides of my hair, too.

I appreciate your vulnerability in showing how you go through the process. It's nice to see because I sometimes wonder if other ladies are doing what I'm doing, and obviously, they are. I have both that It Stays adhesive roll on and Got2BGlued gel. I use the gel because I'd use a ton of the It Stays and I living in Mexico, someone has to bring it in for me so I can't just order a bottle to be at my door in 2 days. With the Got2BGlued gel, I can use more sparingly and just add a spot to my hair under the wigrip so the wigrip stays. I grab what there is of my hair, similar to yours, and put it in a tiny non pulling disposable rubber band. I can pull my hair from the sides underneath to easily remove at night and not pull the hair out. My pig tail is about as dense as my pinky finger hehe. I use that toward my nape to be what my wigrip catches on. Interesting that you or someone said their wigrip slides up from the nape and mine does too! I told Milano Wigs about it trying to figure out what am I suppose to do? Do I tighten it more? idk. But you are using a lot of those clips, they would probably hurt my head after a few hours. I have used some spray to keep the cotton candy flyaways down. I wish we didn't have to use anything, could just throw the wig on and go but there's some prep work that has to be done to get the piece where we want it to make it look more realistic. I put the G2BG gel on with my finger under my lace after it's on because it dries fairly quickly. If not, I use a blow dryer with no heat. I try to not put too much so it doesn't leak through. At night, I gently wash the lace with my fingers under cool water and hang mine on the rack too :) Being that it's synthetic, the synthetic hair will keep it's shape so when it dries, I comb it and it's back to the style it was set in. I had the same issues with bobby pins. I recently bought a human hair sample wig from Fortune. At first I thought great, I won't have to wash my hair every night to get the gel out but I can't stand the old lady style. I'm taking it to have it cut like Jon Renau's Ignite(but with bangs, no smart lace on the piece). If it works, I'll say that those wigs are so much more comfortable than the synthetic wigs with the open weft etc. My family and friends are still getting used to the idea that I'm wearing wigs. They want to know why and have a hard time understanding that it's so thin when I'm only 48. I wore JN's Ignite to church yesterday and had a lot of complements on my haircut! hehe I tell almost everyone I'm wearing a wig and they can't believe it.

If you have a good cool weather ..better I have a large head so no many options I use little rolling things when I wash it after some time of wearing it to help when fiber gets straight. on top. It is good to wash the wig. I wll try the glue but maybe not good for my fine hair and sensitive scalp. Good luck!!! Zoe

Thank you so much for demonstrating the IT STAYS. I didn't realize you could use adhesives on bio hair. I have been glue gunning pressure sensitive clips into my wig caps. Recently, I switched to glue gunning wig combs into my wigs - but they still stress the attachment areas of my bio hair too much and either hurt after a while or cause breakage. I can't wait to try this!!! Thanks again!

I have the same problem as you with all caps slipping off. I've recently switched back to my wig grip. After combing forwards what hair I want to show, I spray the perimeter where it (the grip) will sit with pump hairspray. The hairspray works a bit like glue to hold the grip in place. This really really works for me! I have not had a problem with slipping since. I was losing my edges from the glue so I changed.

Thank you so much for your wonderful tutorial. I never knew much about lace font wigs and I am intrigued and excited to buy one. My hair is very fine and has become very thin so I'm pretty much not going to leave my house ever again without a wig on. I wear a pixie sort of style which I hold in place using toupee clips. I was having trouble keeping the back down low enough so I have ordered the It Stays. I was already leaving the front sides out and combing my hair into the wig and using those clips to hold my own hair up and in place. If It Stays works as well for me as it does for you I plan to cut all my hair off so I don't have to clip it up, just put on the It Stays and put on the wig. Not shaved but maybe just and inch all over, except the sides. That part will still be colored and left long enough to comb into the wig hair. Anyway, thank you from a balding little old lady, you have improved my self confidence.

Hey Jill I love your approach it is so honest and true and you are just being you. I’m so glad that you realize it was that drying head thing that put a buckle in your wig. That is very good to know so I will watch out for that. I am a newbie to wigs and I learned a lot. I had to laugh when you said that those caps slide back off your head. Because that is exactly what mine does and I thought maybe I was the only one had that problem. My hair is very thin and fine also just like yours. And so true about the bobby pins poking through the web. I don’t use those anymore. Well I’m off to watch one more of your videos have a great day 🌹

Thank you so much for your teaching video of how to put on a wig. 👱‍♀️ I bought a wig a few years ago...and I wore it a couple of times. It was a pain trying to put it on & keeping it on. When I wore it out in public I felt uncomfortable & self-conscious because I was worried about it slipping & moving around. I was not having a good time one evening because of my wig!!! I used bobby pins & clips to anchored it down. I never knew anything about the special glue to use. Thank you for the roller glue product... I will purchase it & give it a try... in fact I will try all of your ideas of tackling & disciplining my wig! Lol😀

I bought a headband for wigs and it makes my wig so much more secure. After that I ordered one for each color of my wigs. LOVE them. I don't wear a cap, just clipped my hair down like you did . Then the headband , and then wig.

Hi there Debra! Thanks so much for your tips..It will help lots of people! I have tried those wig grips...not for me, sadly. They are too bulky, and tend to warp my lace fronts...plus, gets in the way of the It Stays that I adore. Thanks so much for watching, and taking the time to leave this comment! ;)

Thank you so much for taking the time to demonstrate as I am planning on doing this because I have the exact same problems you do and think it's because I don't have a large ridge at the back of my head. I saw a video with Heather from Cysterwigs and she says the "french" lace does not adhere well with it stays and tape is really what works with that lace whereas Jon renau lace is perfect for it stays. Thanks again!

I have been diving into some of your older videos, because I’m just starting the whole wig/topper thing and don’t want to miss a thing. I did notice that in this video you use the normal size hair clips to keep your bio hair pinned back. I’ve had super long hair before I started rapidly losing it, so I did decide to shorten it a lot too, to make the process easier, but I just wasn’t brave enough to go any shorter than my longest topper…just bellow shoulder length. Anyway (I know, I tend to ramble…sorry ☺️), to get the back of my hair up and secure for wig wearing, I found some hair clips like yours only much larger…maybe 2-3 inches long, but they still hug together nicely so they don’t slide out or stick out. I haven’t gotten all caught up on your videos yet so I don’t know if you ever tried larger clips? 1 or 2 crisscross is all it takes depending on bio hair mass.

Jill, I use the clips, but I also sew the tiny little combs into the edges of my wigs. They secure the wig very well to my own thin hair, and I’ve never had my wig to slip around on my head.

Thanks for the video I Love it! I would like to know the differences in the wigs (lace, cap, etc) which is best and which not to bother with. I have purchased one wig a long time ago but my daughter used it for the dog and Halloween, so I need to purchase another. Where do I get a good wig without spending an arm and a leg? Thank you again!!

Loki is adorable, but seems to be a bit nervous with all that yawning. That’s often a nervousness behavior in dogs. 😊 The styrofoam heads are awesome!!! I pin my wigs on them and I never experience the difficulty you are with the lace. I hope you adapt to the styrofoam options eventually, you’ll be glad you did. 😃 Also, you may wish to consider the rounded wire drying racks over those plastic ones (because the plastic ones can rip lace if you’re not careful).

Use It Stays on the cap. Roll a thin layer on the front inside and back inside of the cap and press on your forehead and nape. Using a cap protects the wig and extends its use. Using a band and a cap is the gold standard.

No real hair. They must be washed and set! Synthetic hair (name brands) require a minimum of care and do not lose the style when wet. I got pretty wet setting my plants out in the rain last night. In a few hours (I kept it on) it was back like new.

Have you ever used a wig grip? It's adjustable with velcro and it's velvet. If it's worn with the nap down, it holds the wig well, but not as well as when it's glued. If I'm in a rush, like to the grocery store, I simply pull it on and go. Thank you for your detailed instruction on how you secure your wig. Going for a professional fitting tomorrow. I'm using an inexpensive wig now, I like it, the bf does too but I want to try something different.

I love your videos! I discovered you by accident and am I glad I did! I am brand new to the wig thing. I have learned soooooo much from you. I was doing everything wrong. I have bought and returned so many items...wigs, bangs, toppers. Nothing was working for me. Finally I found you and everything has come together. I'm not really at the wig stage yet. I have found that a topper is best for me for now. I have purchased two toppers you have and reviewed. You and I look a lot alike and have pretty much the same natural color hair. I highlight mine a little more. So everything that works for you works for me! Doesn't get any easier! As far as "It Stays" goes, how does it affect the lace as far as care for the lace after you remove the wig? I have lace on a topper I have; Raquel Welch, Top Billing. Thanks again! I love your videos!

I bought 50 clips, but gold, and with a wider 3-pronged base, from Amazon. They are stronger, hold more hair, and hold it more securely. Also, a twisted flip of hair up top front creates a "shelf" upon which to rest the wig. I divide my hair into thirds in the back and create 3 as-low-as-possible ponytails tightly secured with holders. This divies the bulk as evenly as possible. It is best to have long enough bio hair to fit into the 3 ponytails. Just my $.02 worth.

Hello Jill, love your videos, you've been a great inspiration to me! I have a question for you regarding using "It Stays." So I do something similar to you, I clip up the back of my hair and then I roll some It Stays on my bio hair, but only where my wig grip is going to go so it holds my wig grip in place (otherwise it starts to slip up in the back) and this has worked very well for me. When I remove my wig at night, I rinse my hair where the grip is and it comes off easily. However, I have one wig that has a small gap at the top in the front, so I had to put a little wig grip on my hair to hold it down so now my bio hair is basically glued to the wig. How do you remove the wig without pulling your hair out and not having to wet down the whole wig? Thanks for your help and again, love your videos, you're just a lovely person inside & out!

Found this VERY helpful! I can sooo relate to you and your stories. I have both types of wig stands and even though the one is good for drying the Styrofoam ones really do help keep the shape and makes it easier to prep and style your wig some before you put it on. Just buy T-pins to keep it secure on the foam head. I've just basically been having problems securing my wig and still figuring out what works for me. Mostly my wig tends to slide or the glue won't hold. I did have the same problem with the wig stocking bunching up and ending up in a ball somewhere in my wig by the end of the day, The wig grip ended up pretty much doing the same thing as well, however, I do believe it's because I sweat more than average. I'm looking into the sweat protector pads to put inside the lining of the wig and see if that helps. Thank you for being so relatable.
