I shoot ara and what you said about ammo is 100% correct. I’ve tried shooting budget ammo, sk standard plus, sk rifle match, and sk long range match, and shooting those generally costs 200-300 points a card. You can occasionally get a good score with them, but there is not enough consistency. My factory rifle loves center x 30 lot, my vudoo loves lapua xact 26 lol.

My club had our monthly 50/100 yd match yesterday. We use the same 100 yd target and the IBS 50 yd target. Three unlimited (with tuner) rifle competitors. Two shot 499 and I shot 500. I was lucky- one shot at 100 would have scored 9 had it been 0.010” out and I would scored 3rd because the other guys had a few more Xs. I shot Eley Tenex, one shot Eley Match and the other Lapua Midas +.

Are there limitations on what scope power you can use in that competition? Here in Oz we use at least x40 magnification at 100M.

No limitations. I use 24 and 50 power scopes on my rimfires.

Rimfire is tough even the best ammo Xact or tenex in 25 rounds you get one that acts stupid most days, then you have cold bore shots is hot weather, then the wind 😂, 500 is challenging at 100 no doubt, good luck!
