I was one of those that enlisted into the Army with a Master Degree and to be totally honest there is absolutely no logic or reasoning in doing so. My recruiter flat out lied to me, but once I got into the Army I talked to my command and by the Grace of God I applied and was accepted into the Army OCS program and commission into the Officer Crop. Great channel I just subscribed.

Oh man! I'm so glad that worked out for you. Very frustrating how deceitful people can be to meet their quota. :/

Was deployed with this gentleman, very knowledgeable, helpful, kind, and an all around good guy from what I gathered, wish more officers I've met were like him.

Oh man!! So kind of you to say. I was very displeased at how enlisted servicemembers were treated and I tried my best to be supportive. The one thing I miss the most was working with the enlisted folks. So much energy and potential! If there is anything I can do to help, Don't hesitate to reach out.

“How to become O4 in less than 2 years?” Start as an O3 😌

Sounds similar to my wife. Entered as a 0-3 , but it took her 3 years total to pin 0-4. Crazy as an anesthesiologist you would take such low pay. Wife is nurse core, and it’s beneficial to stay. CRNA I work with make $200k outside the military.

A friend of my son had his Master's in music and went in as enlisted into the Navy Band. If you come in with a college degree, you can come in as an E-4. You can come in as an E-3 with an Eagle Scout award. If you get someone to join with you, you can come in as an E-2. All of these can depend on the needs of the service. The Warrant Officer program is a totally different system. Those who think you are not doing well financially forget your field is one of the highest medical malpractice costs of any medical profession. You do not have to pay staff. You do not have to divide your pay with hospitals or other practitioners.

So I recently was selected for LDO. My path towards commissioning wast not easy to say the least. I originally enlisted and left active duty after my first enlistment contract. I joined the reserves and went to college and grad school via the Post 9/11 bill. I came back in the reserves after a break in service and due to my civilian experience, I came back in as an E6. Within three years affiliating, I promotedI promoted to Chief Petty Officer (E7) and then as a Limited Duty Officer in the same fiscal year, which is extremely rare. The designator in which I will commission was the only Officer designator community that interest me. I had no interest in the unrestricted line world.

I joined the Army with a 2yr degree which allowed me to start as an E3 PFC (Private First Class) I also had a SM with a 4yr but his degree didn’t translate into an officer position he was interested in so he was an E4 in basic training. We’re you able to receive the FAP and the retention bonus for residents simultaneously and how long do you have left after using the FAP?

Great question. I actually trained civilian. I accepted the FAP during residency. The commitment is 1:1 +1. (For three years of scholarship money, I owe 4 years.)

Question Sir, wouldn't you want to take time promoting to the next rank? I ask because of the up or out rules, unless its different in your branch. I have seen peers and mentors get passed over twice, which is kind of a shame as they were great officers.

Personally it made sense to me to maximize my income ASAP. Additionally, Im finishing a 4-year contract and separating. All depends on what your ultimate plans are. I would always recommend promoting as soon as you can vs waiting for some alleged benefits.

Good afternoon Sir. In response to your question as to why someone with a degree might enlist is due to limitations as one gets older to submit officer packages. In enlisting it got my feet wet and has given my package leverage now as I complete my graduate degree. That is merely my reasoning as I'm certain others differ. I have met Chiefs with masters degrees and they enjoy the enlisted life.

What about going in as a officer with a bachelor's of arts and then using the gi bill to pay for medical school?
@StevenBradleyMD
@StevenBradleyMD 2 жыл бұрын
That is definitely an option some folks use. Make sure you go in as an Officer. (They often times dupe people into going enlisted despite their degrees). The GI bill typically covers 3 years of studies (don't quote me on that though). It can definitely help offset the costs of medical school!

I am considering doing the Navy FAP, for a 3 year residency program. I am also have 2 masters degree in addition to my doctorate. Do you know if I can come in after residency as O4?
@StevenBradleyMD
@StevenBradleyMD 3 жыл бұрын
That is possible, but would be a question for your recruiter. There is a formula of sorts that determines how the rank is calculated.

Great information, I’m getting ready for ODS and I got in with my BSN and had my MSN after commissions. I was advised I need to work as a provider for like a year before I can switch roles. Any information to help me?

Good day sir! I'm a about to get in college, do I have to go in OCS with NROTC experience?
@gustavo3322
@gustavo3322 3 жыл бұрын
Might as well do NROTC. After you finish your degree (meeting all NROTC requirement) you will get commissioned. OCS is a different commissioning route to get a commission, although the population that get into OCS is much smaller than NROTC or the Naval Academy.
