This is genius!! I'm so glad I didn't start my shingles yet!! I'm almost to that point! I also have this house as combined with another and additions, I love how you made your own shingles in a different shape to combine with the kit ones, I think that's fabulous! This would really add to a genuine Victorian look. Also I love how you raised the tower, that was amazing! Now of course I want to do that with mine, especially since I'll be adding rooms on the roof as well, and the tower isn't quite tall enough without that extra height. I think your shingle job is awesome, it looks amazing! For the spike trim you could use very small wooden dowels, or fancy plastic pics that you can paint, maybe seach on ebay? Vintage ones are usually decorative. Loved your video ending, lol!!!

Looks great. As for the corners of the roof, usually the shingles should evenly meet at the corner without any corner shingles to cover the corners up. You can use an L shaped molding strip to cover up the corners where the shingles meet. Overall a great job ! Some spider webs throughout would be nice too.

@BentleyHouseMinis5 жыл бұрын
Hi Carol! Sometimes you can purchase dollhouse shingles from places like Hobby Lobby or miniatures.com BUT you would have to look for ones that match the ones already on the house. Your other option is you could remove the existing shingles and start new. Sometimes you can loosen up old glue with a hair dryer. I hope that helps a little bit!
@karenk59174 жыл бұрын
Looks great! I did a bit on my house years and years ago before children and life interfered for about 28 years. 🤣🤣🤣 At that time I was paranoid about warping due to moisture in the glue. I can’t remember what I used! 😫 When I started working at it again, about 6 years ago, I believe I read about using E6000. I created exterior panels for my Victorian using this glue. After many more years of lack of work, I came back to shingles raising. 😢 These are wood strip shingles in half scale because they definitely look more to scale. 🙄 Now I need to repair what I have done and hopefully finish this creation. How are your shingles looking now in April of 2020? Thanks for your input!
@BentleyHouseMinis4 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that :( The last thing I would ever want to do is REDO shingles I have already done! So far everything is holding in place and still looks the same as it did the day I finished. However I do keep the house in the A/C in my home... so not sure how it would fair in an attic or outside storage.

Great job! I always wondered about the roof edges thing too. Your idea worked perfectly, and am sure you've started a new trend. For the roof spikes, it looks like ornamental fencing. Perhaps consider using a mold with a resin? HirstArts.com (I think I spelled it correctly), had some beautiful stuff, but it's been awhile since I've been to the site. Look in the graveyard section. Hope that helps!
@heathertaylor-willockx36325 жыл бұрын
Try mold #46, gothic graveyard. That may be a little too fancy for what you want. I'm not sure.
