How big was your freshwater shrimp of 1 year old ?
@KTPrawns5 жыл бұрын
Depending on feeding and water conditions, my 1 year Prawn is over 6 inch.
@madbeast0025 жыл бұрын
Does space size also affect the growth rate of the prawn ?
@KTPrawns5 жыл бұрын
It does but not as much as water conditions and feeding. Space will affect survival. The Prawns need to find a safe place to molt since they can't defend themselves while molting. The other Prawns will happily make a meal of an easy target.

Would prawns work for an aquaponics setup and what percentage of the food could you save by feeding them garden scraps?
@erickmaldonado76767 жыл бұрын
Ordered 12 juvies from you months ago and all were healthy and alive. I have none left now though. I had a male who out grew all the prawns extremely quickly and I believe he killed them off one by one. I should have made this setup so that didn't happen. I just kept mine in a bare bottom tote which worked for a few months but they all disappeared one by one after a while. These are great if you have snail problems too, noticed I had almost no snails and looked up if prawns eat snails and found out they do.
