I do notice a BIG difference in the time it takes me to read romance vs. other genres. I finish books like the Love Hypothesis and Bromance Book Club in less than a day, but it has taken me a week and a half to get 50% into the first Wheel of Time book!

Yass, i noticed it also in my reading habit. It take me almost a week when reading classics or what i call 'dark genre' books, but only takes me 2-3 days for 'lighter genre' like romance and comedy.

Same! Even tho I spend the same amount of time listening to both books it will take me longer for my fantasy books then contemporary romance. I usually have to slow down my speed to 2x with fantasy because they have so much different. Different worlds, magic, and a larger cast of characters. I also have to slow down the book a bit til I am familiar with the world in fantasy romances. Now it isn't all fantasy or all romance that follows this but the majority I listen to. You also have the fact that a lot of fantasy novels are bricks and alot of romance tends to be 200 - 300. (Not talking about Diana tho her books are bricks too)

You are just total GOALS, lol. I read 200 books in 2021 which was definitely the most I'd ever read in one year, and I don't know if I could surpass that…but I'm gonna try. Couple other tips I offer people is: Don't force yourself to keep reading something you're not into. I don't DNF too often but I will do so if I'm feeling totally unengaged with the book and not eager to pick it up. And also, and some people might think this is cheating or whatever, but like…you don't have to read every single word on the page. If there's two solid pages just describing the furniture in a room or something, like, who cares, skim down the page and move on. It's not going to happen often where you really truly needed to know what that armchair looked like later on in the book, you know?

I read a lot of genre and I feel like romance just reads more quickly in general whereas historical fiction or fantasy take more time, mostly because you have to sometimes learn a new world

Just wondering, how do you maintain a work life balance while reading so many books 😅 Are you still in school or do u have a part time / full time job you maintain outside of booktube?

I def agree with binge reading completed series. That is by far my preferred way. But I am jealous of all you audiophiles as that just doesn't work for me apart from in exceptional and particular circumstances. Also, a major factor is the actual amount of time spent reading. The fact that many of us watch little to no TV/movies helps. That is huge when compared to some other people who probably spend as much time watching stories as we do reading stories. TFS :)

These were great tips. I love audiobooks. I need to make it down to my local library and renew my card so I can take advantage of their catalog.

I think that’s what makes the romance community so special, we are sooo in love with reading that we just never stop- we want our next read immediately and we are constantly hyping books up to other people!

I also have a couple thousand books on my TBR and everyone I know say I’m irrational for it lol. I also read most romances in a day. Love❤️ March I had a reading slump tho but going to pick back up here soon. I also listen to so many audiobooks which helps me consume so many books that way because i can just listen to it all day while doing my tasks

Can I give my opinion on Audio books with fast speeds. I have noticed over the years that boring books are given high stars on Goodreads more often. My theory is that when a book is sped up, the story doesn’t sound as boring anymore.

People who say Audiobooks aren't books for sure don't have or know anyone with a disability who NEED audiobooks to be able to enjoy reading. Not my case, fortunately, but that's my opinion. I personally love them. Scribd is awesome, I get most of mine there. I'm so sad there are no library audiobook apps in my country :|

Sometimes it’s the only method of “reading” for some people, the blind and people with ADHD…etc. they’re still books, not movies.

@@ssalm1671 My husband has to listen to content. Yes Audiobooks are books...for listening to. You are listening to someone reading to you. That person is reading with their eyes, whilst you are listening with your ears. Both require the brain, but you're using a different sensory experience. A blind/sight impaired person listens to books. It cannot be said that they read books. Listening to audiobook is quicker than reading with eyes. Naturally, one will get through far more books. I enjoy listening to Audiobooks. It's awesome. I'm listening with my ears. Sight and sound are two different senses. For those who can't use their eyes, or their ears, hopefully they can use their hands and fingers with Braille.
