I like that you mentioned the mental/emotional blocks that could prevent someone from taking time to do the things they enjoy or DNFing! That's so true and really important to dig into. I just took part in sprints earlier today, it was my first time attending, and it was really nice to connect with the booktube community and have dedicated time to reading! That's so cute that you read aloud to each other 😊

These are great tips. I’ve always carried a book with me I always have my kindle with me now in addition to my earbuds for my audiobooks on my phone. I’m 72 and have done this all my life, these tips work! DNF is something I just started because I felt guilty to not finish. The only time in my life I didn’t read was during pregnancy, that’s actually how I knew I was pregnant, I couldn’t read. Lol

I listen to audiobooks the first couple hours at work (office work and no phones for first 2 hours since I start early) and I read physically on every single work break.. so 10 hours audio + 5 hours physical reading a week, just at work. Then I also read physically in the evenings and weekends. If I ever go any place where I'll need to wait for any reason.. yep you know I have a book in hand! I also listen to audiobooks while I'm driving, walking, or doing chores.

A tip for if you get into a reading slump but you want to finish a book is this, Imagine your passion for reading like a fire that is going out, what would you do? Give it something it really burns for or something easy to consume but not too contrasting that you can’t come back to your former book. This gets the fire going again. Then when you want to take a break from that book read your other book. Just keep switching books until you’re done but make sure to take real breaks. You will likely get back into wanting to read your first book again. Overall I’d say stick with books you want to read, but if you get into a situation where you love the book but it’s getting dull, I find reading multiple books or book and audiobook to keep reading momentum going because I do find I like a break from a book after awhile.

My tip is to limit the number of choices I have. I’m more apt to get excited about a book if I have 5 choices than if I have 300.

My doctor doesn’t let me be on my phone/ipad past 9:30 pm due to migraines so I have nothing to do till I go to bed at 11pm/midnight so that’s 1-2 hours of reading every night plus since I’m in middle school we still have required reading time so I usually get 3-4ish hours of reading a day not counting weekends which I will read 6 ish hours a day Also a rule I have for myself if I scroll on TikTok/ ytshorts and if three videos in a row don’t interest me than I have to get off my phone and read for 25-30 minutes Another thing I do is if I can’t find a video that interests me within 5 minutes than I have to get off my phone and read for 30 ish minutes

Last year my goal was 100 books (I hit 92 not bad), but this year my goal is related to page count instead - 100 pages a day. Although I'll still be reading my other loves, Horror and Mystery/Thrillers (in addition to all other genres besides Romance), my main focus is going to be SciFi and Fantasy books and especially series .. and I didn't want to inadvertently dissuade myself from reading chonkers.. and it's working great so far! I'm even exceeding my daily page count goal by nearly double. Extremely excited to read so many amazing series and books this year! 😄

92 books is incredible! 😳😯😧 Hopefully I get there one day!

@@MysticDivinerLJ well all I do besides work is read 😆 (I also read on all my breaks) but I love it. my goal is page count now since I'm reading a lot of chonky books this year. ☺ glad to say I have been able to read more than my daily goal on average.. and quite a few 5⭐s .. that's really what matters.. reading books you love!

Hailey, I’m so happy Ive been on your channel for over a year! I’m watching this Sunday morning and last night I finished Twisted Love. I ❤❤❤❤ love these tips. I’m sipping my coffee in my library watching this choosing my next read. I hope you read this and feel the appreciation. I watched last week’s vlog and 100% agreed healthy boundaries. Happy reading friends!

I agree with the fluffy audiobook vibes! I love listening to a cozy mystery or a less dense thriller on audio 😊

Yes! If-Then statements are conditionals used for geometry proofs. 🤓 Also I need to see if the library card we had when you were little still works and start listening to audio books on long drives to visit you and your brother! And yes reading just for fun can be impactful! Remember when I picked up the Apple never falls randomly at cvs and cried every time I read that page at the end? Terrific tips as usual! 😘

making content usually eats into reading time.. even if you do a reading vlog, there is still the editing part.. and you can't necessarily listen to an audiobook if you need to hear yourself. if only did fulltime booktube it would be a lot easier 😅
