Great video Bruno. One additional suggestion: the DJI Mic 2 for audio recording. It’s tiny, can plug into the 3.5mm jack and can record onto its onboard memory. If you use DJI action (4?) cams, it will wirelessly connect to them and record both locally and to the camera.

Great info Bruno. I have the same type cable for audio and I plug it into my cameras and the camera records the audio. I use two, sometimes three, Drift Ghost cameras and the cockpit camera is for audio.

That’s cool! How do you like the quality of your drift cameras? I heard mixed reviews about them, so just curious

​@@FlyWithBruno So far, no complaints. The image quality and stabilization are very good. Their customer service on the other hand is not great. The price can't be beat as their least expensive camera is $129 and shoots up to 4K. I shoot in 1080p, even though one of my new ones will shoot in 4K. I only post to KZbin and Facebook, so I don't see the need for 4K yet. The stock battery last 2-3 hours depending and the extended battery up to 5. One of the neatest features is the camera is you can rotate the camera in the housing, so no matter how you mount it can set up to up. I haven't posted much for a while but I'm going to start posting more. I had a couple of GoPros years ago, but I just can't justify the cost

Great stuff Bruno! I really love this video and I may steal some of these tricks and tips! However it is worth saying flying the plane has to be the NUMBER ONE PRIORITY! The filming is always secondary! 😊 Cheers great stuff man! Also I always record straight to my GoPros mounted in the plane or Sony ZV-E10 camera if I have a friend riding as a passenger. I never touch the cameras while flying but I also plug my GoPro into power sources while flying and that’s nice not having battery reliance issues 🪫 Caleb’s Aviation

Hi Bruno. Thanks a lot for the overview. In Premiere Pro there is a feature that automatically syncs external audio with the video audio. As far as I know Final Cut Pro should have the same. Would safe you a couple of minutes in the process.

Hey Ian! Thank you so much for the support, man! My iPad mount is from X-Naut Solutions. It cools the iPad with small fans embedded in the mount, life-saver in the Summer! And I attach it to the windshield bow with a custom-made bracket for the Grumman :) Hope this helps!

Thanks for the video, Bruno. I have the same recorder but for some reason it only recording the intercom not ATC. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? when I plug into mic in, it gives me two options; audio in or mic in. I selected audio in.

Hey! Try selecting “mic in” and see if that solves the problem. I’m not sure why this is happening to yours, to be honest. Ultimately, you can reach out to them and ask for a replacement 👍🏻

Hi Bruno, great video! I’ve got the same audio recorder as you but the audio recording I get after a flight is very muffled from high gain I think (it sounds like the gain ramps up to max when no one is talking on the radio). Did you change any settings on the 470 to get the great audio you capture for your videos?

Hey man! Thanks! I did not change any settings on the 470, maybe it’s something with you radio panel? You can try to reduce the gains or even the volume output, perhaps that can help.

Hey Bruno, thank you for the great explanations of the equipment you use! I personally have started filming my flights from the behind the back view with a GoPro 11 Black but it keeps overheating after roughly 20 minutes. I've done everything that GoPro has recommended, but it doesn't seem to be working. Have you ever experienced this personally? If so, how do you keep your equipment from overheating? BTW love your content :)

Hey there! Thanks for watching! Yeah, the GoPros can overheat pretty quickly, specially if they’re exposed to the Sun. Is that the case with yours? I experienced this with my GoPro Max (on the windshield), but never with the other ones.

@@FlyWithBruno Yes, mine is most of the time exposed to the sun, but the funny part is that I’ve done everything that GoPro has recommended (turn down brightness, lower graphics quality, etc.) but it still shuts down even with direct airflow. I know your not GoPro support haha but thanks for your input!

Yes, but all you need to do it hit “I have permission”. Also, ALWAYS ask permission from the airport manager before flying your drone 😉

Hi Bruno, amazing video thank you for sharing, on your advise I bought this Sony recorder which solved the ambient sound recording problem immaculately, unfortunately I have that usb c cable. Just a quick question you might also have this in mind, I’ve observed that the battery goes max 45 to 50 min, how you manage this 😊 here you go idea for you to make an other fabulous video name it #GoPro power management 😅. Hi Wasif! Glad you enjoyed the video! My GoPros will run for about an hour, but I keep them connected to the panel USB so they can ran longer. Battery management is tricky with them, and I found the only way to prevent them from dying is to keep them plugged at all times. Power banks will also work for that!

Thanks for the info. I use the same devices & cables, minus the 360 cam. Editing & synching are my problems. Do you lay all the video tracks alongside the audio or just some? The belly cam is really difficult to get a precise sync.

Not always, sometimes I just use pieces of the video and audio throughout, so I end up having to sync it over and over. But I got used to it!

Do you film the whole time with the small tail camera? How's about battery life? Especially on longer legs my batteries always quit before landing. Greetings, my friend! The battery on my Hero 11 Mini Black runs for about 1 hours and 20 minutes. I don’t use it on long flights because it will always die mid-flight. So I only use it for shorter flights.

Many of my German-speaking YT flying friends, including myself, have switched to Insta360 this winter. Better picture, control monitor foldable, no crashes and a remote control that works. Constant firmware updates included. Go Pro used to be good, but is technologically outdated. The support is a joke and if you are lucky you get one or two bugfix firmware but never new features.

You can Control it via the Insta App with your i phone or you can purchase an extra Remote Control . It also Runs with the Insta ace pro Camera … wich seems to be better than the Gopros. With the Remote you can Control 3 Cameras at the Same time .

Never heard of it, and don’t know any pilots who had issues. Ultimately, you need the actual charts (printed) or an official digital version to be legal to fly.

Hey man! When using you iPad, click "record screen" during your flights and it will record everything you see on screen. Then, download it and overlay it onto your video! Hope this helps!
