Lighting is spot on. But really goes to show how much having a set designer plays a roll in the final product.

Great video. It's good to learn how to break these things down. How to think like a DP. I'm getting better at doing this (taking a photo and determining how it would be lit)... but I still struggle to walk into a room and come up with ideas on how to light something on my own.
@BradyBessette9 ай бұрын
It really is difficult. Even looking back at my shot of this I pick it apart a ton still
@ChrisBucklin9 ай бұрын
@@BradyBessette I think your work is great. Perhaps, however, you might do a video on how to think like a DP. It's one thing to be able to copy a shot, it's another to walk into a room and come up with lighting. When a DP walks into a space (a kitchen, a bedroom, or even that room you used there), what goes through their mind in terms of how they would go about creating a lighting setup? That's one thing I don't see a lot of people talking about - how to THINK like a DP. You seem to have that at least in part, figured out. I'd be curious of your thoughts. Thanks for the inspiration.

Beautiful work Brady. One observation though, the shadow of the character in the reference falls on the bed and offscreen which tells us the key light wasn't lifted as high up as yours because, the higher the light, the closer the shadow to the character. Great video. Big fan.

Casting my vote for that saltburn bathtub scene!

Mamma didn't raise no TWO TRIP LOSER, haha! If I look at the hotspot on the dudes head in the Euphoria shot, I'd guess that the key light is coming more from the top front and causing the spill on the bed and curtain. You guys did a sick job at recreating the look and vibe! I love it! Lemme go watch Saltburn now just incase 😉 haha.

Maybe do a lighting set up from a scene from Saltburn followed by your grading process. It might be a longer video but id watch it x

First time coming across your channel. Love to see a focus of actually making things with your gear instead of so many channels that go on and on (much like this comment) about gear without ever actually producing anything. Cool vid. Love the euphoria look and seeing how you’ve recreated it.

I really enjoy watching experienced DP’s do shot recreations. Obviously, I’m not with you on set to hear your thoughts as you think up a lighting setup, but here, I can see and hear your process for how to achieve a look. I have the hardest time figuring out step 1. Where do I start? I feel like this video helped in that regard. Thanks!

Great exercise. Althrough the key seems way harder. Looking as the shadows and how the light shine on the guitar neck, I would have through of a tungsten unit with light or no diffusion (dimmed / corrected ctb)
