As a film student this is really helpful, sometimes I forget that we try to make our images 3D and a kicker light is definitely one of those things that I often overlook when trying to bringing images to life

Great demonstration of lighting techniques. What I like about edge lighting is that it not only helps separate the subject from the background, but it brings more life to the scene to me. More character, for the lack of a better word. Thanks for another lighting walkthrough.

This is cool. I am working in a very tight space and would love to see you create something similar in a smaller room. Seems like it's very challenging to shape the light in smaller spaces, but I might be totally wrong about that. Loving what you're putting out there as you always get to it without a ton of BS and the information is always practical. Cheers.

Hi Brady. I have been a long time sub to your channel and really appreciate all of the wonderful knowledge you have shown to the KZbin community. I am commenting today because I have a bit of feedback about your title and thumbnail text as well. I know this is a thing on KZbin, but reading “why your cinematography looks bad” and “your cinematography needs this.” Really strikes me in a negative way. This makes me feel like if I don’t watch your video, then my work is bad and me not taking your advice will lead to doing something wrong. I just wanted to bring this up. I apologize if this comes off a bit rude or uncalled for. I have learned so much from your channel since the early days and just wanted to give my 2 cents about how this message was received. Thank you for your time.:)

Just discovered your channel and I'm loving it! One question...me and my friend want to make a music video, but we are in different locations...do you think it's possible to create the same lighting? She is going to shoot her scenes, and I 'll shoot Mine and then we are putting these scenes together. How do we get even images ? Do you have any tips? Thank you!

Brady, I want to thank you for your help. Your videos have guided me through my journey of cinematography. I have a question: the Amaran panels, how are you dealing with the flimsy arm mounts? I love the light but the mount doesn’t seem durable.

Can you do a segment on how to light with 3 cameras

I've been struggling with lighting low key or high contrast and not getting noisy shadows. In this video what camera did you shoot with as your main one, (not the bts camera), and what ISO were you at? And what am I doing wrong? lol. Help please! In my last experiment I was on a a73, with no picture profile, so basically movie gamma, and at iso 100. Had a edge light, background light and key, but my shadows were pretty noisy, I felt like if I added light or ambient, it would take away from the contrast. Should I have just raised the ISO?

Thanks for the vid and the valuable tips. One concern, however: you want to take things to the NEXT level, you say, which is all well and good, BUT… have you thought about the level AFTER THAT? Or the level thereafter, if such an exalted degree of excellence even exists? Food for though, I think you'll agree!

@owenjenkinsofficial
@owenjenkinsofficial 9 ай бұрын
The reviews with the preproduction versions seemed to be softer than the reviews of the production lenses I've seen. Some reviewers still added a shim to the lenses. Seems like the 100 is just softer though, which seems like a common thing with anamorphics. Northwest Camera Co. has a pretty thorough review and softness test comparing them to the atlas mercury set.

Hey not to take a negative turn, but your dog can hear all those lights. To him, each one is making a high pitch TV noise, but instead of a TV it’s two 200 watt RGB lights with 5 squealing diodes per chip, grinding out in hellish disharmony. Listen to your dog if they don’t like all those lights, whether they’re a “scaredy baby” or whatever the reason. No hate, love the channel, just feel bad.
