I honestly love how Starscream's design resemblance a bird and it fits his rather charlatan side of his personality, he LOVES talking but easily backtracks upon seeing more intimidating. And in some nations, purple is considered the color of royalty, something he believes he is.

I’ve always found it interesting how starscream has one of the more regal color schemes(purple and red) among the deceptions, yet he is still second in command to megaton who has arguably the most drab color scheme(dull silver and gunmetal grey) among the primary deceptions. Though I guess it does fit the characters with megaton being a former slave/miner turned revolutionary turned despot whereas starscream tends to give off royal prick vibes. Come to think of it that actually explain why they hate each other so much.

At least in this video, it depends on their current mode. The vehicles very clearly are meant to blend in, as discussed in the beginning, while the robot mode fits more in line with your description. One should note that giant robots don't generally blend in anyway.

I feel like Blackout is a missed opportunity to have some more insect-like elements in his alt mode. Helicopters feel more like flying insects than birds to me because of their different method of generating lift, and it would have contrasted to starscream while tying his design to his partner/pet, Scorponok. As for the Bonecrusher redesign, I'm one of those people who thinks that his 2007 appearance is absolutely peak despite it not being G1 accurate. Since he's not a construction and operates on his own, I'm fine with him being just a different bot than a construction bonecrusher (who he likely hates being confused with). The Barricade redesign is pretty cool, though. I like the idea that his mouth isn't visible unless he screams, as it fits the faceless jackboot thug Barricade strikes me as. EDIT: As for the Brawl redesign, I'm torn. It's a good baseline, but I feel like it's almost too subtle and understated, especially since he doesn't have the other combaticons to contrast with. Handheld weapons don't really scream "brawl" to me-- he doesn't use weapons, he is the weapon. Sure the 07 tank is absurd with its turret on top of another turret, but there is something childishly awesome about the mentality of "this thing needs more guns". That said, all of these takes are just my opinions-- the wonderful thing about fan designs is that they just need to appeal to the creator, rather than a wider audience.

The Falco styled head for Blackout does look a bit ridiculous and an insect styled body could look sick. Also his machine guns look more like rocket pods. Every transformers needs the capability to engage in ranged combat otherwise Brawl would get gunned down without handheld weapons in robot mode.

I always thought of repurposing Bay-verse Bonecrusher’s design for the obscure character Gravedigger, an extra constructicon who is also by surprise is G1 Bonecrusher’s younger brother. Plus a a con named Gravedigger who turns into a mining vehicle does fit better

That Blackout design is now like a major hyperfixation for me. That was every single design trait i’ve always wanted on a robotic organism but never knew I needed it like this. That Blackout is my everything. Protect him at all costs. I am extremely motivated now to make robotic characters from both of your videos, despite how I’ve spent years struggling with the right way to do Transformers AND I’M A HUGE TRANSFORMERS FAN GRAAAAAAH!!!!! I actually think that the Unicron Trilogy (especially Cybertron) and Dreamwave War Within and IDW 2005 continuities got it the closest to right when it came to redesigning Transformers for the 21st century while still maintaining identity in the designs. The secret is to take obvious G1 design cues (and NOT just from the cartoon, but also the original G1 toys-including the sticker detail as well as perhaps alternate transformations that briefly appear in G1/Takara G1 sequel/Euro G1/G2 toy commercials) and apply them to modern aesthetics-especially modern mecha aesthetics with their much more angular and heavily detailed designs.

I’ve been planning to make a shattered glass team of decepticons so far consisting of: Megatron (I’m having trouble deciding to go for a tank or a bicoptor) Starscream (A Dassault Mirage 2000 fighter jet) Barricade (a ford crown Victoria police interceptor) Soundwave (an attack helicopter) Shockwave (a cybertronian tank) Transit ( a city bus) And blitzwing (A VT tank and an F-15 eagle) Any suggestions for the designs and the color schemes? PS. In case you’re unaware, shattered glass is the mirror universe of the transformers. I also plan on using the combaticons later as well
