I highly recommend Phosphate Rx, a couple drops into the skimmer chamber based on an online calculator and it'll reduce your phosphates over night really easily. It also does not affect Alk levels like how other Lanthanum products do.
@jimmihalim60289 күн бұрын
my tank is around 7 months old and had coraline algae growing, my phosphate is quite high 0,25 , nitrate 50+ and sps always die 2 weeks after introduce to the tank, but i see your tank with 0,6 phos and your acros seems pretty good, does older tank tolerate higer phos?
@ReefDork9 күн бұрын
50 is very high and you want to aim for much lower phosphate for SPS. But your salinity, alkalinity, calcium, magnesium lighting and flow need to be right too. If you just follow the basics, you'll do well. You should also avoid wild collected SPS at first - they're far more likely to die than home grown frags.

Have you thought about introducing Mollies to you sump frag tank? Depending on the flow, they can adapt to saltwater and are great at eating algae. They have to be slowly acclimated though for success. 👍🇬🇧
@ReefDork3 жыл бұрын
Actually, that's not a bad idea 👍
@uploadsbytom3720 Жыл бұрын
I like this idea, not sure how you would make sure they definitely stay in one area of the sump though

I was looking for the update after you reduced your phosphate from 0.6 to 0.08. Any noticeable improvement in the coloration of the sps? My current po4 is also around 0.5. Do you recommend me to try to drop it to 0.08 or lower? thanks.

I think Rowaphos is the most expensive form of GFO in the states. Why do you chose this brand over a generic, and cheaper, GFO? Thanks.

Alex, how do you manage to vacuums your gravel with so many corals around, I find I get a lot of detritus especially round the base of my rocks, hence why I am wondering how you manage 🤷🏻♂️
@ReefDork3 жыл бұрын
I don't 😬
@alfst55463 жыл бұрын
@@ReefDork wow, and you don’t get any problems by not vacuuming? I have struggled with high nitrates only to be told I don’t vacuum my sand enough. That’s amazing 👍

Ive been thinking of adding a reactor for a while. Its a 260ltre tank. Any suggestions of how much roaphos to run to start off with. Phosphate is at 0.3. nitrates are close to zero

Maybe a cm or two in your reactor then test again.

How do you clean your sand bed? Or do you leave it to your CUC?
@ReefDork3 жыл бұрын
I've never cleaned it - it's mostly ended up in a few places where my wrasse sleep, and where my jawfish and pistol shrimp live. So they probably stir the sand to some point, although it'd probably be better if I cleaned it myself...
