Many thanks for taking the time to put this video together. We were in the middle of a nine day trip recently when we had the exact issue with our lock. Your step by step instructions were just what we needed to fix our lock in less than 10 minutes.

Spot on, just as you showed the cover plate was loose. The only thing I would add would be to install the latch plate on the edge since the two screws are so short. This helps keep everything squared up also. Thanks for your video! 👍

Thank you so much for putting this video together. Saved us BIG TIME! Was able to remove and repair the lock in no time at all. (Was sure to use thread lock on the screws when putting back together!). While our issue was similar as described in your video, ours was slightly different. The plate was loose, and the "spindle" that turns when you insert the key was so loose that it would not turn the deadbolt mechanism. The key would not engage the spindle. The "pin" that connects the spindle to the deadbolt was still in place. In any case, the loose plate was the culprit, and all is well now. Thanks again!!

Man this video was a life saver. The same bar came off my deadbolt but the deadbolt was stuck in the lock position. I had no idea what to look for but this video made it all clear. You best believe I put locktite on those two screws. Thank you.

Wow!! You saved me from buying another lock. Your video took me step by step to repair mine. Didn’t have any broken or missing parts but it took 9 years of locking and unlocking the latch for those two tiny screws to work their way out enough to loosen the plate and the U shaped bar that connected the red latch to the deadbolt bar. Didn’t have any locktite but I got all the screws tight enough that it will work as long as I own this 2014 Keystone Montana.

Any suggestions on how to tighten a striker plate that slide forward and back? The existing drilled holes are bigger than the screws I have. I wasn’t sure if getting a slightly wider screw would do the trick, if there was a filler or even a completely different type of screw so trying to do research before I make the problem worse. Thank you in advance. 🤞
@TheTravelingLarsons2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching and commenting. To fill loose screw holes, I’ve use match stick ends, rubber bands, small straws can work. A larger screw is an option, but these other ones are too. My recommendation is always match stick ends or wood shims, with a little glue. Let me know if this works. Best of luck!
@cecfry91463 жыл бұрын
I suggest using blue thread lock, the red will make this very hard if you have to take it apart in the future.
@TheTravelingLarsons2 жыл бұрын
Blue thread lock is an option, I just didn’t have any with me.

I dropped the bar down inside the door how do I get it out 😭
@TheTravelingLarsons7 ай бұрын
I’m not sure how you would get it out. The door should have insulation in it, so I’d think it couldn’t have fallen far. Maybe a magnet on a string..? You could probably make a new bar out of a wire coat hanger. Sorry I can’t help you more. Let me know if you find a solution.
