How I Restored This Wood Burning Stove PART 2 *Step by Step *DIY

I now have all the rust removed & it's time to prep for hi temp paint. I show what paint I use as well as my painting technique. I like this particular brand stove, having recently discovered an old advertisement from March 23, 1978 this stove was called "The chrome 'CROWN' offers on elegance of times past and the front or side loading enables the Double Star Parlor Stove to serve as a closed heat source or blazing fireplace" The ad I found had a regular price for this stove set at $188.48 however it was on sale for $168.48....Wow, today 2013 some people want up to 1k for a rust bucket while others just want it gone from their property....... Back to my story...I do not know everything but what I do know works for me! This video will end with details about this particular stove about everything possible. Then a surprise ending where I actually release custody of the stove because it's to good for the back yard.....................The following paragraph is what I wrote in the ad when I placed this stove up for sale the day I finished the restoration....(it sold the next day)............'begin..
............This wood stove was refinished to go outside on a patio, porch or back yard. After completion it was determined to be in great condition & may be better suited as a stove used in a home, shop, garage or even to be displayed. It is ready to use complete with brand new chimney pipe & damper.
This classic wood stove has been completely gone through, striped to bare metal & finished in stove paint. The fire box was coated in an extreme hi temp finish. It is in excellent condition with new 8' chimney. Has not been fired since the restoration/refurbish job. I cant call it a restoration because the nickle/chrome pieces are not in perfect condition since they were only polished out & show their age somewhat.The only noticeable flaws is some rust pitting on the decorative crown piece (see picture), these could be reworked and re-plated if desired.

A wood stove or fire place will add to the enjoyment of your home This is a Washington Parlor Stove replica. I'm not sure of it's manufacture date but would guess somewhere from the 60's . Stove is in great working condition, no noticeable cracks or damage.Overall, this is a great looking stove. The only information I could find on this stove comes from a book called The Wood Burning Stove Book by Geri Harrington. It says, "The design of the Washington Parlor Stove is truly antique--in fact, it is still made from the original hand-carved patterns that the Washington Stove Works first used in the last century (1800's). It burns both wood and charcoal and has side and front-loading doors, as well as a removable top. In addition, the top has two removable stove lids for cooking If preferred, this stove can be installed directly on the hearth, within the fireplace by removing the legs or base." I measured the stove at approx. 26" wide by 21" front to back, and 33" from the floor to the top of the stove........'END....Thats it here, I hope I didn't blabber too much & also hope others see how easy it is do this sort of thing. I am going to need to buy a resporater for sure, all that spray paint gave me a headache that day & the taste of grinding rust sucks!!!
