Im currently studying for my GCSE's and every school day i'm exhausted by the time i get home because my school makes us stay longer to revise ( but the methods they use are passive revision techniques and it is not benefitting me at all ). I try to wake up early and get some studying in but there is just no time, on the weekends however, i get so much efficient work done throughout the day. Do you think it's alright to miss a day here and there to get some good studying in at home because i work better alone rather than in a loud environment with my friends.

my gcses are real soon, I'm most worried about physics, chemistry, maths and history (slightly for english lit because I want to secure a 7 in that) and the first week of my timetable is the worst with biology, english lit, history and maths back to back (I failed maths last time at a 3) I'm on foundation for science and maths and I'm not sure what to remember for english and history because my memory is extremely bad and I struggle a lot with it, my school hasn't even told us if we're having study leave or not they're that disorganised and teachers are confused and panicking but rumour is we get study leave after may holidays, after the first week things should be okay but i really dont know how to prepare for those subjects all back to back

I just had a question about blurting. I know that blurting is a good revision method now that I have less than 20 days until my first GCSE exam but don't you need notes already made to do it. Because isn't blurting when you write what you can about a topic and then look back at your notes to see what you missed. I have no revision resources made but I have the CGP revision guides so I don't know how I could use blurting to learn content with having made any resources. Also, how can you implement spaced repetition when blurting. It helps to make you remember stuff in your long-term memory so how would I do that. I hope you can help. Thanks.

Look i studied around 3 weeks and moved up to 9s, don’t waste time with notes, listen to courses/vids online and speed them up. If u can learn by reading read cgp. I’d recommend just acting like you are teaching someone and explain the topic out loud. Then do past papers, lots and lots of them. For a levels its impossible to just memorize content and get As but for gcses its much less synoptic and more memorisation based so try to memorise and also use flashcards made by people.
@urbrofromclass1222

@@AG-rw4ef Sorry I'm still a bit confused. Yesterday, I spent an hour making biology flashcards from the spec. I have 51 that I have to go through now but I don't think that I have the time. Do you recommend just trying to teach it instead of making notes and flashcards now? I am currently on 5/6/7s for all my subjects and I want to get them to 7/8/9s but since I left revision so late, I don't know what I should be doing. Should I be making flashcards, do blurting or teaching it like you said? And how does teaching help as I have no revision resources to go back and learn the content. I hope you can help.

I've never ever met anyone who's doing GCSE psychology. I am too and I'm homeschooled, I haven't even STARTED it and I need to sit the exam on the 19th (20 days). I know I'm fucked (especially because I need to get a 6 lol). There's the collins aqa book but that's the only resource (in terms of revision guides or whatever) that's affordable. Quizlet is probably your best bet though.

@@proudchristian9873 Honestly, a lot of it was from just repeating. Do as many exam questions as possible and get your teacher to mark them, if you can't write them then just plan in detail as many as possible. (I messed up by doing them with my quotes in front of me, or else I would've learnt the quotes). Also make sure you have a good understanding of the book before you start looking for perceptive and detailed ideas, for these perceptive ideas I used a lot of Physics and Maths Tutor along with Mr Salles + Mr Bruff. I would also look at memorizing some quotes and essay introductions for the books, which you can use regardless of the question.

My advice is to take time off school if you think the lessons won’t benefit you. Sometimes extra lessons are great - but if you can work better alone, just don’t go in. There is no point.
@Soni-jd4li
@Soni-jd4li Жыл бұрын
Doesn’t seem like you’re able to go on study leave even if you want to, so I’d recommend moving your seat in class to an empty space (even if just for the next 18 days) so you aren’t distracted. Even better if you can request your head of year to get you your own study area (which I’ve managed to do myself) so you can essentially self study like at home. Don’t fret about it too much though: being in school still has its merits like getting advice/feedback from teachers quickly compared to long waits for email responses. Best of luck

@@Soni-jd4li hey, thanks for the advice! unfortunately i don't go to the best school, they're not very accommodating. my mum had a meeting with my head of year to basically inquire about study leave and ask if there is anywhere i could go in (during classes between my actual exams) lesson time to study and basically the short answer was 'no just do what your told'. what's most annoying is the school knows i am not just trying to get out of lesson to mess around, my grades are high and ive never had a detention am a prefect etc, so it's odd they're unwilling to let me study myself even in school. i think my only option is go in as little as possible, but thanks for the advice nontheless!!

As a pupil whose teacher has marked gcses before I’d probably say focus on 4, 6, and 9 mark questions and make sure in the development (AO2) you explain every single step to get from a to b, and then for AO3 essentially just find the key word in the question (e.g "can encourage" in "explain how the manufacturing industry can encourage economic development") and write a sentence like "therefore the (manufacturing industry) can (encourage economic development)" I hope that makes some sense :)
