One thing I realized with this test which makes it a nasty test is that you cannot under no circumstances think for yourself you will get the answers wrong if you think about it. You literally have to go by the LSAT rules. The test forces you to not think naturally but in a more mechanical way.

Although some questions may be mechanical like the conditional statements (the ones you would likely diagram to get the answer), the LSAT is really really logical and natural. Yes, must meant logic’s but the exam Is not designed to crush what you know- you just have to have a different level of focus on what they are asking and ONLY what they are asking one question at a time. The exam is very natural once you get the hang of not overthinking. Some of us overthink more than others naturally so we must teach ourselves to focus by drilling one question type at a time, seeing our mistakes, stop arguing with the test and learn from why the answer is correct and rinse and repeat. Once you begin overthinking (or bringing in any background information) you will probably get those answers wrong. The LSAT is largely about how much and how quickly you can STAY focused on the EXACT question they asked based off of that set of facts, that are in LR passage or RC passage. Premises are all facts on this exam whether you believe they are or are not. But conclusions can always be challenged or weakened. Or you may be asked to strengthen it. Just do what each question asks of you and NO more. That’s how I think of this exam. And I have enjoyed drilling. There are many ways to drill to get better. Then you can drill entire sections then whole tests. You can do it.

@@equallyyoked1 yup this is true. I also realize the LSAT forces you to process information differently. I have learned how to read in abstract, how to summarize and simplify the arguments and the answers be some crystal clear. Like you said it’s about focus and knowing what info to focus on and what to ignore. I focus on the conclusion and the evidence. Background info is thrown out the door. Once I focus on the evidence and conclusion and reorganize the words into something simpler the question makes a lot of sense. Words are particularly important. I can literally cross out wrong answers just by looking at one word that makes the answer wrong and move on quickly. Right now I’m working on the games. I understand it but completing it in time is kicking my butt.

@@mitchellcohen5063 congratulations! I’m in the very beginning of the journey. Haven’t taken the diagnostic because im afraid of making below a 150 and lowering my morale. I decided I would take 6 months to study and so far insight LSAT is so helpful! I actually find the LSAT a fun challenge. Do you mind me asking you what you did specifically when you studied?

How did you incorporate the LSAT trainer in with power score and how long did it approximately take you to finish each book?

Hi! The Logic Games Bible I'm not precisely sure as I had worked through some of it a few months prior to really starting to study for the test. The Logical Reasoning Bible took me approximately 16 hours to work through and the Reading Comprehension Bible approximately 21 hours to work through. As for the LSAT Trainer, I worked through that at the very end of my studies and as I mentioned I actually ran out of time so I focused on only the Logical Reasoning chapters as that was where I thought I would be more likely to capture another point or two (I did Chapters 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 16). I am just starting to study for the June 2022 test, however, and am starting with the LSAT Trainer and (10 Chapters in) so far it's been great! As for "incorporation" I would say there can be a struggle between styles/voices/thought process, particularly for games, and I would really encourage using the Powerscore Bibles for Logic games and maybe use the LSAT Trainer to supplement the other two sections.

@@meganpolishak Thanks for the clarification! I literally didn’t know where to start since there are so many LSAT prep courses and books to chose from. Do you recommend power score or should I just purchase the LSAT 16 hr trainer package by Kim? Also, on the lsac website, it says I need to do a writing component test before I take the LSAT. Did you have to take that? I’m not sure if I need to take that or whether that just applies to students who are taking the LSAT FLEX.

@@sgyunasaderter8491 I would definitely go with Powerscore if you're just starting out. It's a little more in depth and walks you through each step. As for the LSAT Trainer, I didn't do a package I just bought the book on amazon so I can't speak to that. You do need to complete the writing component if you don't have one on file with LSAC (so if this is your first LSAT you would need to take it). I didn't complete mine before my test, I believe I did it the next day, but the earlier the better as until your writing sample is complete and approved (which can take up to two weeks) they will not release your score on the test to you.
