main reason i park on motorcycle bays is that if someone tries to steal my bike, i might get lucky and an other rider sees them and stop em, as I would do it if i see someone stealing the bike next to mine, we r a very good community and there is no shame on taking advantage of it. love ur vid

Also, motorcycle bays give thieves a choice. If your bike looks more effort to steal, they'll take a glance and move on. More locks the better.. deterrents are essential.

Yeah man I feel ya, mine is parked on the side of the road at night also & I have the same approach, as like you say, determined people will just turn up in a van and 3 guys lift it on the back, all you can do is make it a pain in the backside for them to turn their eye to another bike, I can recommend covering it though, studies have shown that it deters up 50% of opportunists instantly, I have 4 separate locks, a 120db alarm , steering lock & cover, random vandalism also is pain..Good post, best of luck guy!

@@SwenglishSteve650 it’s got to be done. A cover is definitely the way. My disk lock alarm kept going off randomly so I got rid of it for the one I keep in my bag but will replace it at some point. And yup, few blokes and a van and the bike is in the wind, so can’t stress having even the cheapest of trackers on it. Even if they find it, the chances of you knowing where your bike went/ was last pinged could be the difference between Geri g it back or not.

Useful video. I holidayed in Crete recently. Thousands of bikes of all shapes and sizes, from mopeds to scooters to Beemers and Ducati Multistradas. In 10 days I saw ONE chain and ONE disc lock. Many riders just left their crash helmet loose on their bike. Why is there virtually zero bike theft in Crete but an out of control epidemic in British cities?
@TKRydezz
@TKRydezz 21 күн бұрын
@@m2menuiserie540 I would say, Crete just sound like a better place to live. Better weather and better community values and probably not as expensive in comparison. London, everyone is on top of each other, not everyone has the same opportunities and more people are miserable. As a result, a lot of people choose to do the ‘easy’ life and take rather than earn and I feel that the youth have been abandoned by society and have allowed them to get swallowed up by the underworld. But that’s a topic in itself.

Good video and good advice: some security is better than none at all. However, all of your deterrents would mean that your bike would be gone in 300 seconds, instead of 60 seconds. Solution? Rent a space in a secure underground compound in a car park, patrolled 24/7 by security guards, instead of parking it on the street. It is simply impossible to keep your bike truly secure when it is parked on the road.

I parked my old Honda CB550/4 in a London car park chained to a lampost. When i got back someone had tried to nick it. The chain to the lampost was cut and the ignition was on but they could not start it. Thats because I had fitted a hidden on/off switch to the low tension ignition circuit (not suggesting you do this). Rather than leave it alone they set about smashing the clocks up on the bike. It cost me a bit to repair but i got to keep my bike. Never parked it like that again. Some time later it got turned into a 4 into 2 because of a careless van driver. Shame.

I think getting a cover is honestly a simple and easy deterrent, if they can't see the fact it's a nice bike it will deter them more. The nicer the bike the more they are wanna going to knab it. So it's good to carry a simple light weight cover, you can get a cheap light one that goes over your bike, i then put 2 slits in the sheet so i can line it up with the back tyre then slip it through the cover and around the tyre at the same time. A simple chain and cover most of the time is going to deter them, thieves will go for the least resistance.

The front brake lever lock will make them just cut off your front brake lever, and if you have a sterring lock they will just destroy the sterring lock. So essentially your bike would get destroyed if they decided to abandon halfway through. But yea that litelock is bombproof. Are you's allowed to park in car parking bays?

I own a 1984 BMW K100rs, I use a heavy chain/ Lock on the back wheel and through a steel loop on the swinging arm, a Large D Lock on the front wheel and I have a black Samsung "Airtag" epoxy Glued to the frame under the tank ... which is accurate to 2 meters, If someone did get away with my bike the tag would send me signals using GPs and other peoples Samsung phones, to update where it is. I used one of the tags to track my hold luggage when I flew to Thailand, during the flight the Phone app informed me that my suitcase was 34 metres from me, and in baggage claim i watched its progress on my phone, as it went through the baggage handling system .

And now I know where you keep it, and what equipment you use to keep it safe lol. All over the internet - genius. Thin a** cheap chain, less than 14mm is easily cropped. Disc locks take me a hammer to get off - don’t bother. Even best on the market, just cut the brake disc. Easy - push it off. X1 is okay, but x3 is the one that takes multi-diamond discs. And those brake grip locks are hilariously useless.
@TKRydezz
@TKRydezz 23 күн бұрын
@@aps-pictures9335 this goes to the point I made in the very beginning, if someone wants it, they will take it. There’s no illusion there. Does that mean you do nothing at all and make it easy for them? So if you were to come for the bike (£50 if you send me a pic of it there), you will need your crops, a hammer, something to cut the brake disc and something for the brake locks. The average opportunist isn’t walking around with all that and the average street criminal WILL be deterred if they are not tooled up. Perfect solution would be to not have a bike, that way nobody can steal it, but if you do, deterring the criminal who is not driving around with power tools and a garage tool box is the priority. If all that fails, you can hopefully track it, but then if that fails at least you tried. Perfect example is bait cars. Some of these people only go for it because the keys are in it and the doors/ windows are open. These same people who have the capacity for this would just walk off if the car was locked. Appreciate the comment though.

They still have to get the lock off the back at least, also cover your bike so they don't even know exactly what it is unless they followed you, also why he has trackers.

@@timm2628 they still have to contend with whatever you’ve done. If lucky enough to lock it too something, instead of them being off within a min, it may take them 5/10, hopefully enough time for somebody/ anybody to respond.

@@Fromatic they are very very rare, only seen a handful in my time. Would save a lot of work for the police, tax payer and riders if they were more common

Its a shame the uk is the way it is when i cones to bikes. Im 21 and have had all 3 of my bikes stolen so i moved to Australia and my bikes safe. If you dont have a garage in the uk domt get too attached to your bikes because theres a very high chance for a bunch of unemployed teens on surrons will nick it and burn it out in field

@@LK32019 3 bikes stolen would be enough for me to put on a a cape and some spandex and go wild at night. But don’t tell me that’s the reason you move so far 😅
