Very good job!! Did you transmitted any live data other than GPS Location? How did you measured the temperature (what sensor did you use?). And if you transmitted live data how did you do it? With what transmitter/receiver? Thank you. Keep it up!!
@FLALabs Жыл бұрын
I appreciate the feedback! We don't transmit live data with this device (aside from the SPOT GPS tracker that gives us location and altitude for part of the flight). Instead we have an Arduino Mega onboard acting like a logger/flight controller. We have a number of sensors onboard, but the Adafruit MPL3115A2-I2C Barometric Pressure/Altitude/Temperature sensor [ADA1893] collects all of our weather data. We hope to add live data transmission in the future by partnering with a local HAM radio operator that can teach us how!

We file a NOTAM (notice to airmen) through the FAA before every flight. This is not strictly required if you follow FAA guidelines, but it is safer for local pilots and prevents incident!

@@FLALabs A small burn unit of pressurized RP-1 and LOX shouldn't be too much weight. There are about 3500 abandoned satellites that you could choose from to perform a collide and hook maneuver. Once you're up to speed, blast the hook off.

@FLALabs7 ай бұрын
As a free-flying balloon, I do not have the ability to maneuver, so I have the right-of-way and it is the responsibility of aircraft pilots to avoid collisions. I am only required to file a notice to airmen with the FAA before each launch.

@FLALabs Жыл бұрын
Only if the satellite were at orbital speed (about 17,000 mph) and reentering earth's atmosphere. Since our balloons don't completely leave earth's atmosphere and move very slowly, they don't heat up when they gall back to Earth!
