This video is top notch. Really helped me figure out how to adjust my sled. I am 300lbs 6'3" and my torsion bar was set to 1.

You should get what they call the” fatboy” springs. I think part # they refer to as 270/271 springs. These would help your issue greatly.

Is it possible to remove the rear shock and the front shock without removing the whole skid thing?
@toddbunnett640

For reference I’m riding a 2020 renegade adrenaline and I weigh 290 lbs. The factory torsion springs for me are set to level 5. They are a touch stiff but level 4 I find not enough. I ended up putting skidoo touring torsion springs on it so it would support the weight off two adults. With the heavy springs I ride at level 1 when solo.

I had my shocks rebuilt and both were the same… only started moving at 2. I pulled the assembly apart and looked at where the piston stopped. Where it bottomed out was around 2-2.5 i’m pretty sure…. So that’s normal.

@@Schneids15 There's a thread on Dootalk...I tried sending it to you but YT won't allow it. It's not normal. When you took it apart did it have one or two o-rings? Did you bleed it?

@@BlueRage i felt my piston had full travel back and all 3 sleds i had worked on had engaged at the same point. I always rode on a stiffer setting as the starting area was way too soft for me anyhow so i never worried.

@@Schneids15 I have two skids out of two XRS's in the garage right now. Identical sleds. One engages at 1.5, the other engages at 2.5. In the Dootalk thread they mention that some leaked. Did you actually take yours apart? The upgraded version has two seals on the piston.
@Schneids15
@Schneids15 2 жыл бұрын
@@BlueRage never took apart. No leaks and the piston was bottoming out to where it should. The piston in the skid would go down to where it should as well on the torsion springs. The previous owner of the sled told me that since new in 2012 he would always turn it back il free spin them back to his preferred setting because the contents would leak from piston below to the cylinder over night.

Quick questions: just bought a new mxz sport 600efi, front spring cambers are at lowest and I’ve set the rear torsion to 3 to keep the snow flap from dragging. Should I be setting fronts up to 2 or 3 as well and also how close to the ground should the flap be when I’m sitting on the sled?? Thanks if you can answer and great video!
@Schneids15
@Schneids15 4 жыл бұрын
You don’t necessarily have to set the front the same as the back. I would start soft and if you like it go with it. I like the front more stiff for fast cornering and no body roll but that is me personally. I believe don’t go by the flap. Go by a measurement at the rear bumper. I think the spec is 1-3 inches lower. So if you are at say 20” at the bumper( pull up on the back all the way til it stops with nobody on it then take measurement) then sit on the sled. If your measurement was 20” you should be sitting between 19 and 17” somewhere. Don’t quote me on the “ numbers. You can google r motion sag when sitting and it will tell you for sure. Hope that helps. Josh If going by flap you definitely don’t want it dragging but want it close to the ground.

Thanks for the video. It explained a lot in a simple way. BTW Skidoo recommends 2-3" of rear sag in models with R Motion, But they don't mention anything about front sag. Any ideas?

@Schneids15

A simple fix would be adding ski pressure. Either tighten limiter strap up front but easiest is to just crank up the torsion springs. Josh

@Schneids15
@Schneids15 5 жыл бұрын
Sorry forgot to mention. First off if you do loosen the forward shock in the skid that will also add some ski pressure as it is taking pre load off the front of the skid. The torsion springs will make it a stiffer ride but greatly improve on ski pressure. First off though from factory i believe they only have one single carbide runner in the middle.(used to come with the double that the ski’s were designed with but saves cost i imagine not shipping with them..... ) I would suggest adding the second carbide on the outside edge of the ski. You have to drill the holes but the slot and everything is in there. It will solve your darting issues i bet. They usually ride really well with the double carbide. Let me know how you make out. Josh

I always run 8" double carbides. I've had so many people tell me it's not necessary but it always makes the sled track straight. Yes there expensive but there is a diamond v cutter you can put in a drill to keep them sharp. I always figured missing a turn could be 10x the cost of good doubles.

Know this is old but check/adjust ski toe to 1/8 inch or so out. Also try adding spring pressure to the center shock.
