Anthony, you are the most patient and kind sounding instructor I have listened to for Lightroom. Thanks

Maybe Anthony didn't invent this technique but he sure 'n hell is the first one to tell me about it! One of those "obvious" techniques once you see it, but not one that occurs to you until somebody like Anthony points it out. Great tip! and as always very well explained and demonstrated. Thanks! Simply put this is one of the best photography sites I've ever encountered!

That was by far the best coverage of noise management I have seen to date. Previously, I did not differentiate between color noise and luminance noise. I also never caught the concept of duplicating a mask. A BIG thanks to you!

I found this works great for prints and for noise but if you share your image on social media a lot of that sharpening gets lost or can turn into ghosting artifacts from down sizing. Now I've learned that it's important to sharpen at the resolution that you plan to use the photo at. Unfortunately this can mean sharpening multiple times for one image but the results for me are much better.

Hi Anthony, great video like always but I have one suggestion. Lightroom CC has a new fetures called Texture. Maybe you should make a video about that. When to use (and how) Texture, Clarity and Sharpnes - Globally and Localy, on some examples? I think it could be very interesting for many users of Lightroom because new sliders and features are sometimes confusing because it overalps some funcitions. Keep going, big support!

I am adding reduction of sharpness, clarity and the new texture slider (reducing that slider) to my noise reduction. This in conjunction with the noise slider are offering significant noise reduction. However, they also increase the blurring of the background. To date, that increase in blur hasn't mattered. I am sure that the blur can be adjusted with different levels of the sliders involved.

Hello Anthony. First, I love watching your videos. Thank you. Question: Now that Lr added a Texture slider would you use sharpening differently? Maybe use Texture instead of Sharpening?
@footsy4204 жыл бұрын
I like texture for making the parts that are a little out of focus sharper. For instance the far eye on the first gorilla would get a texture brush from me. You can also use it to make out of focus areas softer. It eliminates noise very well. I usually use a brush with a bit of texture and sharpening mixed.

You talk about only turning overlay on when you are close to edges, but you never say why. Great video as usual, thanks.

Thats so you can see when you spill over into the area you don't want selected. And fix it.

P L E A S E. I am completely befuddled by the new masking. I liked the previous version. I get "select sky" and select Subject", but I don't get erasing what I don't want. But if I just want to manipulate that rock or tree, I can't get it. If I happen to go outside the lines on that milk can with a brush, I cannot erase the excess. Used to be able to color choose and LR would erase the excess. I am sure that I am the problem, but I am frustrated. And no one has a book out to help. Love your videos, but I can't "walk and chew gum". Thank you in advance.
