Great comment about having a good aerobic base and you answered my question about what each run is designed for. Great to know that you can get better if you stick to it with that consistency. Fantastic insights and perspective.

Cutting off all that hair made you lighter AND more aerodynamic-maybe it’s time to get rid of my braid! But seriously, though, it’s always cool to see this kind of insight into what the process looks like. Keep on climbing!

Do you think that having a strong swimming background helped to be a better runner Simon?
@SimonShi4 ай бұрын
Yes!! I was still relatively fit from my swim days which meant I had a more than normal lung capacity and other attributes as an athlete

Simon, been following you for a minute and i LOVE YOUR content, this is my 3rd year in a row i been running, i build up to 5-6 miles comfortably and then BOOM my shin splints kick in and i have to take 2-3 months off and in circles like this, any advice on how to get rid of these shin splints ????
@SimonShi4 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot!! Hmmm if you look at my most popular KZbin shorts. There is a video about exercises I did to help with my shin splints. I would maybe start running on treadmill, in the track, dirt trail to ease off the hard concrete and road surfaces

Great stuff! What do you think about replacing those extra easy runs with cross training (bike, swim, elliptical etc.)? I'm trying to make the most of 3 runs/week, with a goal of general training for the occasional 5ks to half marathons... Would it be smarter to do just one speed workout and the long along with one easy run?
@SimonShi4 ай бұрын
Yes!! Definitely cross training would help so you’re not putting too much stress on your body from running Yeah that works too with 1 speed and 1 long run if you don’t have as much time to run
