Azure Standard is not just for bulk purchases. It may have been that way in the past, and I admittedly mostly purchase from them in bulk, but most items can be purchased in smaller quantities as well. You can buy 5lbs of sugar, one bottle of soy sauce, one head of cabbage, 30oz bag of dried beans, etc. Just wanted to share that in case anyone wants to check it out but doesn't want to buy in bulk.

Sarah Black that is a very good point! I just placed my first order Feb. 2019 and have been able to do that because, as you said, you can order smaller quantities. I did order 5-pound quantities of rice and wheat. It is a great choice for those of us not living in “the city”.

Definitely! I almost always order the smaller quantity first and then size up to the larger quantities after we know we like the item.

I have two comments. Regarding my costco buys, I buy their Kirkland brand peanuts (not organic, I know) and we make our own peanut butter. A lot cheaper and we make what we need, usually a weeks worth at a time. Regarding Azure standard, I ordered for the first time last month and they shipped the items to my home. I bought 10 lbs of wheat flour and some other 5 lb items. We do get a delivery in our town once a month, but since it was my first order I wanted to try their products first. And the truth is, I would rather it ship to me than go to town and meet a truck, so I will probably continue to order that way.

I live I such a rural area, I don't even have mail delivered! My nearest store is a 30 minute drive to a mom & pop grocery store. Very limited selection of food, fresh vegetables are seldom available, meats are locally raised, no healthy choices to select from here. Wal-Mart is an hour and a half away, any large shopping, Sam's, Costco, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, is 4 hours away. I will make a late summer run to these stores before the snow hits & buy in bulk items I cannot grow & household supplies. Other than that, I'm on a "if I can't grow it, I ain't eating it" basis! I am going to look into Thrive & Azure Standard and see if they deliver my way.

We live 100 miles from the nearest grocery store and 4.5 hours from Costco. No azure drop here either. I try to grow and preserve as much as possible. I also rely heavily on Amazon and Costco ships dry goods now which is huge! I haven't done thrive get because the membership but I just may have to give it a try! I tend to buy things in major bulk because of our distance to town but I appreciate your advice on this! Organic isn't always an option here but I figure fresh and from scratch are always better than the boxed junk. Always looking for other ways! Oh and organic real maple syrup is my fave find at Costco. Best price I've found anywhere.

I agree-- I usually don't have a huge problem if something isn't 100% certified organic, as long as it's still fresh/grown wisely or I can make it myself!

We use Azure Standard and have it shipped to our home. Depending on how heavy the items are the shipping can get pricey but doable. We didn't have a drop area nearby or the time to help unload the truck. The quality of organic food is excellent and comes in various sizes you would find in a store, not just bulk. Love the channel!

I live in the mountains of Idaho outside a small town with one grocery store. It’s almost a 2 hour drive to the nearest Cosco, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, etc. I usually go every month or so to stock up. Online is definitely my friend for just about everything. I’ll have to check out Azure and Thrive. Our growing season is super short, I live in a rental house and my water is full of iron, so growing much is a challenge though I do have my herbs in my kitchen.

I live in quite a rural area in Texas, and my grocery options are rather limited. We drive about an hour and a half to get to a grocery that has good organic options, although there are a few options for about an hour's drive. We aren't always home, as we need to check frequently on aging parents and family members, so I can't grow as much as I would like, although I am learning and doing some of that also. I'm always exploring options!

Our Costco is 3.5 hours away in Albuquerque so a long round trip. When we do it in one day, I’m burnt the next. However, it is the best source of organic veggies available. There is a Whole Foods in Albuquerque but Costco usually wins out due to time constraints to get home before dark. We only go twice a year, so I’ve learned what to buy to last close to that long. Of course the veggies don’t keep that long. We do have a semi-truck that has organic veggies from Oregon and it comes through once a month. Love that! It is quite pricy, but a Godsend so I don’t have to leave the mountain anymore than necessary. We go 86 miles to a Walmart (closest grocery shopping) only 1.5 hours, around once a month, but the produce is pretty iffy, though they offer organic lettuce, spinach, carrots, and celery. Don’t ever eat celery that is not organic. We are basically vegetarian so meat is not a concern, though I would like to grow meat chickens as I feed our cat chicken every day and that gets pricy. What I really want to raise is fish. I want an underground garden as our growing season is about 6o days. That is where the fish will go. There is no other shopping around, and heartbreakingly so, not a single farmers market around here. NM also feels a little behind and since I live in cattle country there are huge meat eaters around here. We also got blasted with a blizzard and experienced several white outs in 24 hours. Must have been your leftovers, only got a couple inches of snow, but it was wild, as you experienced.

I do most of what you do, growing wise (beef, chickens, lambs, but no pigs), and gardens. Some fruit. No Azure, minor local grocery stores (I visit Save a lot or Aldi if I am already in town), no Thrive/Grove/etc., yes Amazon, not much of a farmer's market, but the place that gets many of my local dollars is the Amish store. People go in for candy (gag) or spices/herbs (fresh and great price) and stay for the local honey, cheese, flours and grains, etc. I get some kitchen utensils and sewing goods there also (a quilt square was a recent find).

We grow some of our own veggies and fruit-expanding every year. We get our beef and hogs from a friend of ours that raises them about 4 hours away. Our chickens lay us enough eggs for our use, to give away, and to water glass for when they slow down in the winter. We grow our own herbs outside, and each year I add to our medicinal garden. I am currently buying good chicken from a local store because after doing the math, it's actually cheaper buying than raising and butchering. Our beans and grains we buy from Azure Standard and have been since 2011. We don't have a Costco here; the nearest one is 2.5 hours away. However, I did go to one a couple months ago, and it was the exact same as a Sam's club. I wasn't impressed with either. I guess maybe it's because I know where we get our meat from and I make everything from scratch... everything. I just didn't see any deals to make it worth spending the annual membership at either place. If I had a kid in diapers maybe. I do need to do better about visiting the farmers markets. We used to get raw fresh whole milk before we moved, but where we live now; I've only found one person and it wasn't the best tasting milk. So we do buy whole milk from the store. Our meals are pretty basic meat and veggies; cooked and seasoned different ways and delicious each time. I enjoy your channel. You remind me so much of a friend I have.

Hi, I live near the Twin Cities metro area. I use Thrive Market too. Just started probably about 6 months ago. It's working out great. I shop off there about every 2 months, mainly for pantry items and organic herbs! My local grocery store does have a decent selection of organic fruits/veggies, and they have started carrying two brands of organic chicken now which is great. They also have organic and grass-fed ground beef & buffalo which I used to buy. But, now I order all my meat, except for chicken, from U.S. Wellness Meats. You need to have a minimum weight for them to ship, so it's easier for me to order most everything from them. And I like that all their products come from farms that grass-feed and grass-finish. I've gradually progressed to all of this over the last 10 years or so as organic has become more available in stores and as we've been able to afford it. I don't have much of a green thumb and we've moved around a lot over the years, but eventually I would like to start experimenting with gardening and grow more of our own veggies, maybe fruit too if we end up somewhere warm enough to do that. Wherever we settle down, I would like to buy or build a place with some land, so maybe we can try out chickens too. :)

Right in our own town & a nearby town we have a Farmers Market every Friday all summer into Fall & then once a month in a community center the rest of the year. We also have a local Ideal Green Market, which is just what the name implies. It is an organic, locally grown/raised store where you can become a member & shop for less or just be a non-member & pay just a bit more & get just about everything you need from spices, veggies & fruits, meats, dairy, etc. We also have a Food Coop with healthy food selections & especially spices & cheeses. We live about 40 miles from a Costco, Aldi & Walmart & there is a CSA about 50 miles away (but I haven't gotten involved there. I do use Thrive Market too, but I need to do more there & I use Amazon too. We are in the country but certainly not as remote as you are. I also buy Tillamook cheese because i know in Oregon they really try to grow organically. I have been to Tillamook Cheese Factory also. I buy boneless organic chicken breasts there. I do have a place to buy organic chicken raised outside but they get spendy and only sell twice a year. I miss out a lot of times because i run out of chicken between their growing time so i usually do the Costco brand. Every year i buy an organic turkey from Costco also. thanks for the vlog :)

I like to buy bulk spices like garlic salt at costco, as well as their croissants (its just WAY too much of a pain to make them from scratch in the quantity my family will eat them.) I also buy my organic coconut oil and olive oil for herbal preparations from costco.

I 'm outside of the metro Atlanta area. There are whole food options around but not near me, so if I want them I have to drive the distance and fight traffic. Perhaps you've heard of Atlanta traffic? We grow what we can and I try to expand the garden each year. Have chickens now and hoping to get goats for milk. Our 2 acre wooded lot won't support a cow unfortunately. I look forward to your Tuesday vlogs as I really don't have a homesteading group of friends here.

This is an idea from another channel that I'm passing along...if you are trying to balance your Omega 3s and want good nutrient dense fatty fish, Costco has wild planet brand sardines in olive oil for much less than individual prices even at Walmart. Keto Connect is the channel on YT. Really good topic so thumbs up!!!

No costco near me and Sam Club we need to pack a sandwich to drive to. Do not like to pay to shop so we don't ever do those. If I don't garden, we can shop at aldi's which likes to offer local foods when they can. Walmart and Dollar Tree and IGA is our go to places. Of course when I garden we can enjoy more and better things to eat.

Am not sure, Walmart is not to be very well trusted in any case. I just get what we want when we find it to be a good price. Aldis is the better place for us to find local and most likely better produce. Thanks for responding to me. I admire and would love to live out where I am forced to grow more stuff and do what I can to keep it til we use it.

We are in a city of 75,000 in the Midwest. Our local Wal-Mart is carrying many good organic options which are decently priced. There is also a Natural Grocers with year round quality organic produce and great bulk supplies of organic beans, seeds, oats, etc.. So glad to be able to source affordable organic potatoes, lettuce, onions, beans, some chicken, broccoli, and apples between these two stores.

We also live in a rural area (about an hour from a walmart/regular grocery store/large town). What we do have about an hour north of us is a large Amish community. I THOUGHT I was making a great choice when I drove to visit the Amish market an hour away through the summer and purchased produce. Obviously there is nothing there that says organic on it, but I just kind of assumed that it was local/contained less pesticides then conventional grocery store produce. My husband disagrees that thinks that it is possible that it is worse then a grocery store (in terms of pesticides). Does the freshness outweigh the uncertainty regarding it’s organic status??? 🤷‍♀️
