i did what Rosa is doing--car camping-in Oregon bout 49 years ago. it was much more low key and less commercialized then as were most places. Colorado back then was mostly wide open.

You have the best way to shower of all the nomads I follow..... The food looked good, but I'm the guy that would not do the spices...Lol..... Those rest stops that say no overnight crack me up because if you do the hours you do, nobody is there to check...I did it when II used to travel to Virginia a lot....I am people shy also ♥

Very true about Oregon not feeling wild. It's mostly because it was bought out by timber companies because of all the great Doug Fir so there are no real wild forests left. It's also a heavy private property state for that same reason and people have homes along the beach and along the rivers. Access to many places is limited because they are landlocked by private property. There were magical wild places in Oregon but they are long gone.

I haven’t spent nearly the time in Oregon as you but I did feel at sometimes I could get away from people. Though to be fair I was there in peak wildfire season. I don’t know, it sucks, but Idaho feels the same way on weekends. People are finally realizing the outdoors is amazing and there are too many of them.

I agree. I grew up in Oregon and I agree with that. In the small town I grew up we had to pay to camp and it was sketchy. Nothing happened when we were there, but is sketchy now. Now their is an island to camp on. Didn't even that island was there growing up. Really nice, but complicated scheduling ferry rides. Even to do town events there cost an arm and a leg. Halloween will cost locals a small fortune Halloween Town (Disney movie if you know you know). Also we had 3 subways on the same courner. Some people have Star Bucks we had Subways. 🤣

I agree that camping on or near the beach in Oregon isn't the best. ;) I much prefer going inland of I-5, into the National Forests. I am most familiar with the Cougar Reservoir area, east of Eugene on the OR 126, but have wild-camped in a few different areas where I found off-main-road spots that were very beautiful, and by going up higher, I get away from the crowds, as most seem to want to camp down by a river, lake, or stream.

That was a nice shot at the water pipe with the sunrays.😊 In regards to the CO & OR commercialization of natural areas, I suppose they do that to capture those tourist dollars. They want you to drop into town, drop some cash, and move on down the road to the next tourist trap. Camping, instead of a motel or B&B stay, would take money away from those business owners. It's a shame, but just like anywhere else, some will spoil it for the rest. That was a tasty looking pot-o-noodles you made. 🤤 Though I would've spontaneously combusted from that much red pepper flakes. 🥵💥🔥

@@lifeinmyelement Cool thanks. I appreciate your reply. For me it's one of those dreams I'd like to live out, but I have alot of things I'm trying to accomplish right now. Material things don't *define* me, but I do have a bunch of things I know I don't need.... it's a want. Although I can unload if the world falls apart again. I like to pretend I live like you on the weekends or those few vacation days off I can get. I tend to drive up or down the coast until I lose cell signal and then I'm happy. Or, I'll go into the mountains or take a hike. Anywhere I have no signal I'm happy because I get that feeling like when it's the last day of school and you get home and dump your backpack off your shoulders. No signal = the world can fall apart and I don't give a shit. If work can't get a hold of me, cool, nobody is going to die. F the world. I often wish I could go back pre cell phones and net; I CAN live without it. This all sounds sad cheeks and depressing but I'm "saying" it with a smile. I'm sure you understand. 😁 And hey never turn down some good and healthy 👉👌.

I had a motorcycle in the back of my truck at a rest stop in Oregon, I was at a race down in las vegas, couldn't drive the full leg, pulled in about midnight, I drove all the way back to where the truckers are cuz it was darker, about 3 am a state patrol knocked on the window said hey man, don't mind if you get some sleep but please don't park back here with the big trucks.. so I moved a little ways and went back to sleep... I've put up tents at rest stops .. slept in the uni rest rooms in idaho, heated .. locked the doors.. slept real good too .. pitched in macdonalds yards too, I just don't care ... :-)

Right now I'm living off my savings and trying to make youtube work. But before I did seasonal work at National Parks, and gig work like Doordash and Instacart. I can always go back to that if youtube doesn't work out ❤️

So much fresh running water. Why not shower at the water source you went to, the water may be cold but easier overall. You could wash your clothes at the same time. Looks like you'd feel at home 200 years ago.

Honestly that water was freezing. It looked inviting but would've been a very uncomfortable shower for me. I do prefer being in nature to developed areas ❤️

Your rant about Oregon feels like Colorado....and Oregon feels commercialized, it's not wild, it's not natural.... Soooooo you kinda mean Oregon doesn't feel like .......Utah? :D
