If I understood it correctly, you could have gone to business lounge (Al mourjan) without any fee that usually costs about 120 usd for someone flying by economy but you got an upgrade after paying 69 USD for the first class lounge that will cost about 160 USD for someone flying by economy?

In theory it should work, I've only ever tried it once and that was a couple of years ago. But, I had read online that quite a few people had been successful with this method before me. As long as your are departing from Doha with Qatar airways in Business class then it should work. Please let me know how you get on! 😊🙏

How do you check for availability for those rooms? Oryex hotel is fully booked and I got 14 hours lay over

There's no way too check, but there are more than enough rooms available there. I believe the max time available in one of those rooms is 8 hours. So please let me know how you get on 🙂🙏

Going to Phuket in May and got a layover at Doha for 14 hours🙉 .Flying economy so don't have the privilege of using a lounge like this. Any suggestions can be given on accessing a cheaper lounge with good facilities and how much it will cost.

Hey, I had access to the Business class lounge thanks to my next flight, but instead of going there I headed to the First class lounge and asked if I could upgrade. They charged me $69 to upgrade at the entrance desk. 😁👍
