Great video- great presentation style, BUT, When you buy one of your beautiful photos as an NFT, what do you actually receive? Do you mail the new owner a print, or does the buyer actually then own the copyright to the photo? If you could explain some of the sales benefits that would help me make a decision about buying one. @@Wardiesart it depends on the seller. Sometimes they might offer a physical print. But in terms of ownership, that generally stays with the artist. All these terms should be listed in the description too. But if in doubt it’s always good to contact the artist too. That’s one of the beautiful things about it. It can be whatever you choose it to be. Some sell the nft with all rights and ownership and some don’t offer anything but the ownership of the digital nft and nothing else.

Careful with that. I get about 3 of those requests a day and almost 100% of them are scams. They'll always want you to transfer the NFT in a sketchy way, and when you offer them a legit alternative like Open Sea, they disappear never to be seen again

Thank you for explaining NFTs in a way that i can comprehend that is also interesting. I actually watched the entire video and yawn once or reach for a pencil to draw while wishing you would shut up. And your not ugly so im guessing my mom hired you to explain this stuff to me. You had me excited about NFT art UNTIL you said "for all of eternity" because at that point my mind did wander a bit. See im new to art as more than a hobby. 2024 was my first year showing my art in a gallery. So when you said "for all eternity" i wondered what if im not good enough and im just basically matubating with a bunch of art supplies and then i die and am reincarnated and my work is still there. No matter how many times i die it will still exist. I mean thats great when im feeling all hot to trot, but what if im really not. Anyways then my mind went back to watching the video. I think my mom really did hire this guy to explain this stuff to me because his hair is amazing. But like i said im brand new to the art world and ive never made as much money as that guy did on his NFT sales. But people have been asking me to sell NFTs so maybe i should. Im trying my best to research the topic and am glad that the fungible token is not an offer of fudge or mushrooms as i honestly first thought that to be a typo and thought these people were going to pay me in moldy brownies. I dont smoke weed so i declined. But i honestly want to have some place in the art world so i guess I'll give it a go. I’m only just starting to learn about NFT’s but from what I’m learning, twitter/discord is how the game is played, using influencers and community building strategy, whitelists and all sorts of other things I don’t yet understand 😂

It's definitely a huge part of it. Being an active member of the community and engaging and supporting others is a big part of having your work get eyeballs. But this is also one of the best ways to learn more about the space and really make meaningful connections with people who are like you. I will probably make a video about this in the future too.

We learn from each other and it seems like there is small window of initial interest. Like any business there has to be some promotion to keep the nft current. Think of how many nft are minted daily. As an approach, I would say, raise your price ridiculous and sell it in fragments. As long as it's only one token it maintains it's value and is more liquid. People can trade the fragments which will increase the over all value. And mint only 49%. I'm not an expert, just a student.

No issues with prints. I keep them separate. You can (if you choose to) include rights to print also. That’s the beauty of NFTs, you can write the contracts, set royalties on future sales or anything how you like.

Or did you use the lazy minting? Gas fees on eth are so expensive, and I’m afraid that lazy minting could discourage a prospective collector. Gas is way cheaper now than it was a year or so ago! But in saying that, ETH is where the buyers are atm. Polygon is more for other types of NFTs and I personally don't know of any artists making significant waves on there at this time.

I’m curious about marketing these. Regarding those that were on opensea-did you continuing to market these the same as you did with the launch? If not perhaps that’s why it slowed down? What if these were available for a limited time? So there’s a sense of urgency. Then you market each new collection, and take it down after. You can always bring them back like an anniversary series or something. I’m definitely interested in creating videos of my physical paintings then minting them, but I’m still listening and learning-so I don’t know the rules to putting up and then taking down-however, I do know selling and whenever something is limited and in a limited time, people respond with more emotion and make purchase.

You'll need a small amount of funds to pay the gas fees to list on Opensea. But this shouldn't be too much. You could probably get away with $50-100 to be safe

I just got into this 2 weeks ago and it is a huge learning curve. Just the start up is kind of ridiculous. For warning for those starting, there is a fee to start up, on Opensea the cost is $350 on your first sale. You don't have to pay that until you get your first sale but you also have to put that money in before you get money for your first sale.

To continue my story because someone bought my items before I had money in the account and it takes a long time to get money in there, they will charge you $1,000 to make sure no loss of money to the buyer has happened. Now if they don't report any losses you get all that money back. So the advice is to have money already in Metamask before you start posting any art to sell.

Selling NFTs is as much about marketing and branding yourself as it is about selling great art. I would personally stick with your established account. But if it doesn't align to the art you're creating, you might want to start fresh.

Hi Ben question to be clear when you say you have sold 21 images for about AUD$15 000 how much money did you actually get in your bank account as I don't understand this whole NFT thing yet and how many editions do you sell as a NFT is it just the original... and can you still sell actual prints of the same image that you've sold as a NFT thx much appreciate the video and any reply

How much does it cost to start out on open sea if you already got artwork ready to sell?

It's not a lot, it's basically transaction fee's to get to started. But you'll need ETH to begin with. I'd say about $50-100 should be plenty.
