@DagwoodDogwoggle Absolutely terrible? They worked well enough to take down his opponents.
@farnstonellerby65394 ай бұрын
@DagwoodDogwoggle Whom did Royce try to take down, but couldn't? Your claims about the early UFCs stand factually incorrect.
@farnstonellerby65394 ай бұрын
@DagwoodDogwoggle Stay on topic, lad. We're not discussing imaginary fights Royce never had against Severn, Couture, and Liddell. We're discussing whether or not Gracie's takedowns worked in his UFC fights. They did. Since they were clearly effective, they can't be "absolutely horrible," as you've claimed above.
@rachelcohen42674 ай бұрын
@DagwoodDogwoggle You're speculating Severn *would* have beaten Royce in a rematch at UFC 5, and also stating that Couture and Liddell would have beaten Royce. Maybe they would have, but the thing is, those fights you're speculating about never happened. And had Severn had handled Gracie easily at UFC 4, Severn wouldn't have tapped out....i'm not sure if you're trolling or just a moron. I'm assuming the former, so... at least *try* harder to be convincing at it.

What is that supposed to mean? The UFC fights of today are not scripted ( unless you got some receipts ). Sure you can say that the UFC does favor some fighters in some way like having the judges score the fight that goes the distance in favor for the more favorite fighter ( if the fight was close to call ), and having certain fighters not getting punished for feel drug test ( like Jon Jones with the whole picograms excuse ). But just because some fighters get favoritism based off of popularity, that does not mean the fighters still have a chance to win the fights.

New events, especially a completely new sport, take years to build up an audience. Do you think NBA was as big as it is from day one? No sport was massive from day one. You don't know what you are talking about. He had the "vision" to create it and make it successful. Building on that is more about finance and marketing than "vision". I doubt you have created anything.

What does that matter? UFC of today is hugely different then the first UFC events. It's almost 2 completely different things. One was single style vs single style. Now it's guys training every element to be more complete as a fighter to have a better chance at winning. Without this original UFC we may not have had the UFC of the last 20 years.
