That is more of a detail thing, but one idea that kept me motivated through med school and beyond was this: I wanted/want to know that which nobody else knows or remembers... As an example: if a patient comes and leaves the other docs stumped since the symptoms don't fit anything they knew, I want(ed) to have such a good understanding of the basics and such a wide knowledge base that I would be able to say: "this could be the rare presentation of common disease abc", or "it would be the rare disease xyz" - if that makes sense at all. I still do this today, but now more on the side of treatment options, surgical techniques etc. I guess you could say I always wanted to know more than there is to know... :) [Please tell me guys if this doesn't make sense, then I will try to rephrase it...]

When I study I usually have a nice ambience in the background, listen to some calming music, maybe have a nice drink to keep me getting tired of my tasks.

I stay motivated through organization. Putting things in front of me and making a schedule really helps me feel that I can tackle things.

You are a gem!! I know your family is proud!! My grandmother was everything to me, when she passed when I was 16, I was devastated 💔. To this day, I push myself because of you. Hugs!!

Thank you so much for sharing your story and being so honest. It means a lot more than someone listing out the same old textbook advice. I'm so sorry for all you went through, but I know you're making your family really proud!

Thank you! This may be my favorite video of yours; it has incredibly authentic vibes and wise advice! I am starting med school as a 39 year old next month and really appreciate learning from other people's experiences and mistakes. I would also love to see another video from you about what mistakes you may've made or what assumptions you had going in that were wrong! Keep publishing!
