So glad so many of you are going try this banding/threading-like (thranding? Lol) method. Just a note for those doing twists outs and etc. after using this method, I only use hair butters (no added water) or oils when I twist my hair after removing the bands. If you use a water based product like a moisturizing cream or twisting butter your hair will start to shrink again. Just wanted to give a heads up and be sure to check the ingredients first before you start twisting. * Of course this only applies to those that want as much length or stretch possible using this method. Sometimes I moisturize and retwist with a light cream between wash days and my hair shrinks a little. Hope this helps 💕

I wear my hair in its natural fro state and I do not get single strand knots or tangles. These tips might help: Avoid butters (Shea, mango, cocoa) in ingredients of moisturizers and avoid in deep conditioners, use a more hydrating deep conditioner (Matrix Biolage Balm), wet hair more often (with aloe + water or rosewater Spritz), use more moisturizing products (Qhemet Biologics Amla heavy cream or their Burdock root cream), stop twisting or braiding your hair for at least one month, finger detangle only. These tips should help increase your moisture levels. Once they increase, you can start detangling with tools (on dry hair), but don’t detangle with tools on wet hair. I used to get single strand knots all the time when I was twisting/braiding my hair every week and using products with butters. My texture was also dull and undefined. Now, I have zero single strand knots and my texture is shinier and defined. It is about moisture, avoiding coating products and training your texture to naturally clump without tangling.

Me too. So instead of doing this. I go straight to twisting. After I twist I pin the twist flat to the opposite side of my head. That way when I take it out he twist still have definition but are extremely stretch w/o being straight. If I do a wash and go I let it dry all the way then do the banding but leave gaps in between so it doesn’t knock out all he texture. Check out naptural85 to watch the stretched twist video. I learned it from her. Thanks for the video India.

I tried this method before I enjoyed the results. But now you make me want to try it again then do a twistout! Your twistout was so shiny and full and just everything I want in a twist out! Everytime I do twist outs on wet hair it shrinks sooo much and detangling afterwards is horrible. I prefer braid outs over twist outs because it is more stretched but definitely going to try the banding method maybe with a silk ribbon instead. Thanks love 😘😍

How long does this take to dry...my hair isn't usu. fully dry before two days and even if I sit under a dryer, my hair is still often 10-20% damp (as evidenced by the way it always changes on day 1). So this seems like a great method but seems like you don't necessarily have to be anywhere for 2-3 days after? I know everyone's hair is different but I've noticed some styles I see on KZbin definitely can't even be finished in a weekend.

I usually wash and then wear twists but twisting makes my hair AWFUL! The strands eventually twist around themselves and my hair strands stick together. I end up spending a couple of hours trying to de-twist and end up tearing a lot if my hair out. As I get older I also notice that it's so darn dry. I absolutely HATE my 4c hair😤

Your hair looks amazing!! I have done this method before but not with so many hair ties. I will try this method the next time I want my hair stretched ❤

I stretch my hair like this: it can be whatever state, clean or dirty. Use a wet moisture, then a cream based conditioner, then an oil-based conditioner (my hair does best w/a glycerin, not everyones does so know your porosity). I do small to medium 2 strand twists all over. When that is done I divide all the twist into 1/4 sections. So I have 4 sections when I am done. I use hair wrap paper from top to bottom around each section until all 4 sections have the paper wrapped around it from top to bottom. It looks like 4 long ponytails. The reason I use the wrap paper is because with scrunchies or bands I always noticed marks and creases left in the hair once it dries, The wrap paper method also lays any stray hairs in the same direction reducing frizz like CRAZY!! Even with my glycerin base. Anyway, this was a good video. Love seeing how others get it done!

I do a heatless blowout method using my Q-Redew. I got the method from a KZbinr. Her channel is Simply Jade 101. It's a 2 step process but it works really well for me.

Pretty I was not expecting your hair to fluff out like that!

Your hair is very beautiful. I stretch my hair using curlformers, twists or banding to keep it as detangled as possible. When I wear an afro I band it so it will tangle less too.

Thank you for this, I have been struggling so much to stretch my hair. I don't use heat at all anymore except to deep condition so this might help as I am still in the awkward length phase of my journey. Keep doing what you are doing, you are all awesome! This is one of my favorite channels!

I’m definitely going to try this next wash day. I just need safe bands that don’t pull out my hair.

Im just watching this to show support. My hair isn’t at this length, so I clearly need to go back and check out your previous stretching method.

Let me just tell you that I saw that video on my old phone. Subscribe to the channel and use that and then when I got my new phone I never subscribed again. Felt like that was all I needed😮 Then you go and do something else. Amazing. I want to say it's my fault 😮 Well i'm back 😂😂😂😂🎉❤

My hair seems to retain a lot of length when it is stretched, so will be trying out this method. 👍🏿👍🏿

My hair would NOT lay like that. HOW YOU DO IT😭😭😭😭. It also won't look so flat in just two twists. So thick and puffy, I'll have to do like 6 of them

I tried this and it did not work for me. I did not twist or plait my hair, I just grabbed sections and put hair ties all the way down the hair shaft from root to tip. Once it was dry my hair had more of a blown out look (think Diana Ross’s hair). There was no wave, no curl, just slightly frizzy stretched hair. I prefer super defined curls/waves. Not sure I’d try this again, or if I do,..perhaps twist or braid my sections.
