Learning is life..not a hobby. Everyone should constantly be learning or be open to learn. Until death. Schooling system has been focussed more on status degrees where many don't learn much, but cram on adderall and move on.

One of my favorite videos of yours! So important to be well rounded and not caught up in the speciality of our work. I’m also a lawyer and find the topics you chose to be relatable and interesting. Please do more on this - maybe how you schedule this additional learning in and how you are motivated?

I am still figuring out how to best approach my own learning journey as well. There is so much I want to dive into and starting from scratch seems very difficult. Maybe I am just overcomplicating it. In med school there is always something to learn, things change all the time and there is always something to specialise, but you need to have lots of discipline to study without a professor after your internship day ou job day… It’s especially hard if you want to study something that’s not relate to med school, but I am always trying to, even though I love what I do, I don’t want to medicine don’t became all I am, I want to be define by other stuff too !! Hi, I find your video inspiring and calming at the same time. If I may, let me share my own journey in "self-directed" learning. It was two years after graduation. I already had a job teaching college chemistry. I got curious about math, so I tried to go over a textbook recommended for self-learners. After working out a couple of chapters, my curiosity got the better of me and I ended up enrolling in formal courses. I even enrolled in a PhD Math program, and taught math courses. This eventually landed me a job at the central bank where even then, after work, I'd occupied myself with law studies. So now, I have a law degree and am about to take the bar. Still, everyday I feel a hunger for learning new things--new ideas, new perspectives. I'm actually thinking of studying French, economics or statistics. Anyway, thank you very much for this very nice presentation. P.S. Your shelf and your notes look so neat and organized!

Brilliant and inspiring demonstration how Culture is one of the most stimulating thing in life!. I didn't have chance to study at uni, but since I finished college, I always read and learn on my own. When I talk to people they don't believe I m not graduated. I wish with all my heart to go back to ufficial school and follow academic study, but for me is reductive to find one single faculty. Will be helpful to have a video regarding this, or just an advise. Thank you!

Hard to tell if this is the right platform for this. But ill try anyways as this is still considered business. Given the present conditions, is it better to invest into Real Estates or into Stocks? Which would yield better output.
@michaelcollins1220
@michaelcollins1220 2 жыл бұрын
Has got to be Stocks but of course, you have to be well informed on the right ones or better still, get a pro to handle it for you (that way, you save time and minimise risks). Made my first million this way earlier this year. One more thing, one can wake you up by 2am to complain about a leaking pipe, the other can't.

You are quite admirable coming up with a curriculum, but it seems to be a very hard task to do. How will you practice or apply your lessons? Some say we don't really know if we understand something until we try to use it. Otherwise it can slip into some mindless consumption of content. Also the topics seem to be disjointed. Why not pick prominent psychology and economic theories from Hugo's time to help interpret the story from different lenses? Malthus and Ricardo might be more relevant. And maybe consider Rousseau and Von Clausewitz on the Napoleonic wars and French thinking of it. Nietzsche's Ubermensch theory seems to clash with most of this. Its a struggle to gauge when we don't know what we don't know. As you mentioned reading primary and secondary sources, how will you know when you've read enough and its time to move on?
@mariana-vieira
@mariana-vieira 2 жыл бұрын
While I agree with everything you're saying, my main purpose here is to start slowly and take it one step at a time. I'm more focused on feeding my curiosity and finding motivation to read and learn new things even if they seem a bit disjointed and aren't from the most prominent writers. The alternative for me is just focusing on work and typical routines, so even if it's disjointed and I can't practice what I'm studying, at LEAST I'm learning something new, and that's a big victory for me :)

Great video. Don't get me wrong, but Piketty is not a good source of information. His wrong doing on citation is well known.
