There's other videos like this but YOURS caught my attention today! After playing pickleball off and on for 6 years, I now know I need to wake up early to improve my skills even more so I can pass it down to the next generation, in hopes of one of the students make it in the Olympics. Currently about 60 countries are playing pickleball; the Olympic committee requires at least 75 countries to consider. Thank you!!!

As a Muslim, our religion has recommended that we wake up early before sunrise to perform the first prayer, which is the fajr prayer, and thank God for the blessings and gratitude. Our Prophet Muhammad also said, (meaning) that waking up early will be blessed and there will be enough time for everything.

Oh yes, early mornings offer a wonderful opportunity for personal reflection and rejuvenation, especially after a restful night's sleep. I typically wake up around 4:00 AM to enjoy some quiet time before work. My morning routine includes activities that help me start the day on a positive note, such as devotion, exercise, and preparing my meals. I also appreciate the cool, refreshing mornings in Jamaica, especially now that the days or so, so hot 🥵, up to 34° C. Thanks to God that I work in an air conditioned environment. As the old Jamaican saying goes, "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." There's certainly a lot of truth in that.

As a fellow mom of young kids, I completely understand! Waking up early in the morning became a form of self-care for me. When the kids are very young and not sleeping through the night, waking up early might not be possible. But as they grow older and establish regular routines, like going to preschool, I felt it was the right time to reclaim my identity-not just as a mother, but as myself. I'm rooting for you, your family, and your goals! 🙏

As someone who's trying to establish a better morning routine and waking up at 5am 0:37 this is exactly how it feels! 1. Reason I think my reason would be to have time for myself before the day begins where i can do things while the rest of my family are sleeping. I journal, work out, meditate and learn Korean in that time. Other time in the day would be busy or distracting for all that since i dont have a space of my own. 5:14 this is so on point! When i was trying to wake up early before, since I didn't have a clear schedule of things I wanted to do, the next morning I would snooze my alarm because I didn't remember anything important that would take me out of a comfortable bed 😂 I LOVED your video. Every single point aligns with what I've learned these past 2 months where I've been trying to regain control of my life and grow as a person and a profesional. Thank you!

Where you were in 2020 is where I’ve been the last couple of years. I don’t have a family, but I hate what I’m doing and reaching deadends looking for something new. Two things I’ve been pursuing slowly is learning Korean (I saw your parallel Bible) and writing. Watching your video made me wonder if God wants me to use this time to build more disciplines in my life. I’m exhausted and watching Netflix at night too. I want to do more for Him and spending morning hours learning new things might be the ticket. I need to do something different to have a different outcome than I have now. 감사합니다^^

Great info. Thank you for sharing. I have been getting up around 4:30am for a year or so now, though I am not always consistent. A few things that have helped me be more consistent recently are: Setting a nightly alarm for about 30 minutes before I plan to be in bed. That way I can prepare and be down with enough time to wind down for sleep. Planning to be in bed with more than enough time to meet my sleep goal. It typically takes anywhere from 20-45 minutes to fall asleep. So, if I am aiming for 8 hours of sleep, I plan to be in bed for 8.5-9 hours. For the longest time I would aim for 8 hours of sleep, but would only allot 8 hours in bed. I would only get about 6 to 7 hours of sleep. Being consistent in my bed and wake up times even on the weekends. I find it harder to wake up early when I am not consistent, especially when I would prefer sleeping in. This is the biggest struggle for me.

This all absolutely matches with my own experiences. I'm a practicing muslim and we have fajr to pray just before sunrise, and after sun rises it is not recommended to sleep for 45 minutes, as this is the time of the day that you start your work and it is an extremely important period to get ahead as it has a lot of barakah. We also have hadith saying we shouldn't stay up too late after praying the isha, which is the evening/night prayer. All this combined, I've experienced a huge amount of peace and efficiency from my days where I go to bed early and wake up early. You also already wake up on your own after a while, at crazy hours like 4,5,6 AM, and you actually feel energized. The only exception to this is when my work schedule affects me, as I have very little time at evenings to actually do everything I need to do before going to bed early. This also showed me how work and economic state of a person can be a strong, very very hard to change cause for their unhealthy lifestyle, so while I'll absolutely stand by the point of waking up early, I also understand not all people will have the means to do so because you'll feel like a machine after a while and evening activities may also be a big temptation. Great video that touched on all the points I've personally experienced as well. 👍

Having a compelling reason to wake up, and the 'Pain of not making a significant change greater than the pain of waking early' resonated deeply for me. Thank you! I’m going to do this today. I have insomnia so I often don’t sleep til 5 am. It’s awful, but I’m going to get up, take out puppy for some fun and get some sun on my face. I liked the “prepare the night before” tip best. I have a long list of things I want to accomplish, but ironically, I’ve been a working (and teaching) calligrapher for 35 years. Cheers~

I’m so glad you found value in some of the tips I’ve shared! ☺️ I’ve really noticed that doing some 'mental preparation' the night before makes a huge difference in my productivity. And 35 years of teaching calligraphy?! That’s impressive!! ❤️🔥

Very well explained... Ma'am, please tell me what should I do if I don't have any compelling reason to get up early and still want to get up early.
@FlourishedHopeАй бұрын
That's a great question. It made me think for a while to come up with a helpful answer. 🤔 I believe it’s not easy for anyone to have a 'compelling reason' to wake up right from the beginning, and it can change throughout our life journey. And that’s okay-in fact, it’s perfectly healthy. Finding 'that reason' can be understood as discovering what you love or even who you are. So, I think it's important to take time to reflect on yourself-what you love, what you don’t like, what makes you smile, and what you want to become. Try learning different things, follow your heart, and explore. Sometimes, your reason to wake up doesn’t come automatically, but in the process of learning and exploring, you might find something that gives you purpose. In fact, the process of finding your reason could be your reason to wake up. Consider journaling, reviewing and planning your life or even just your day. I’m not sure if this fully answers your question, but I believe that by asking such a genuine and thoughtful question, you're already on the path to finding your own reason for waking up in the morning. 👍⏰

I am a night owl and love sleeping so my Goal was 8 am, now is 7 am it later will be 6:30 am, until i get to 5 am. the days i noticed i went back to sleep was because 1. i didn't do a plan for the next day so my brain didn't know for what i was waking up early. 2. I skipped a step in my routine. (i turn on the light, brush my teeth and face , stretch, then read the Word and walk the dogs).... i try to do it all quickly cause i want to start my day at 8:30. If i move to sit in another room without my routine, i fall back asleep. and the Lord has been convicting me about my sleeping hours and how i need to wake up early to do all the things i need to do.

I find your video very relatable. I have seen a couple of other videos by people without kids and a partner. Most of them could go to bed as early as 8 or 9pm and still be able to get up to 8 hours of sleep. This just wasn't going to work for me so I couldn't keep up. I heard you say you go to bed at 10pm after having about 30 minutes of catch up time with your husband and I believe that includes time for intimacy 😊 Honestly, women do a lot trying to juggle being mothers, wives and pursuing their personal interests.

Immediately after waking up is typically when I feel at my worst, physically, mentally and emotionally, so dragging myself out of bed is an ordeal. A few years ago, I did get into the habit of waking between 2-3 AM to have a couple quiet hours alone, but this was mostly fear-motivated. The early schedule was nice in some ways, but I found it stressful to keep up. After a few months, when the weather started getting colder and I started feeling a winter slump in energy and mood, I went back to my normal habits of staying up late to have the night hours to myself. I kind of want to get back to an earlier schedule, but finding a compelling enough reason to wake up is my biggest hurdle.

Thank you so much for sharing your morning journey. 🙏 You’ve highlighted many important and relatable topics, such as our common struggles with anxiety and the added challenge of waking up early during cold, dark winter months. I’d suggest making your morning routine something you can share with others. Some people post their morning routines on social media (simple photos with a timestamp), which can provide feedback and interaction that might be motivating in the beginning. I’m rooting for your mornings! 🙌

I've tried waking up early and fail to do so. It lasted a month before I went back to my waking up habits. Still, I try again and I realize it's most of the time when I feel depressed or sad with no clear sens of the future and it really helps with imroving my mood. I'm not giving up and going to try again, and again, until I make it =) Ps : I am also not a night owl, because I cannot stay up after midnight, so it's clearly more a question of motivation than anything else ^^

I get up 4:30 feed my cat, pour a coffee and chill, at 5:00 I hop on the treadmill for 30 mins, after that it’s 5:30 and I get a relaxing shower. After my skincare routine it’s about 6am, and then I have an hour before work to eat breakfast, get dressed, and chill. I love mornings

This is just what I have needed today! Thank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful video. I’ve been working to shift my life these past few years and keep getting bogged down in details that ultimately aren’t that essential. Thinking back on the more productive times in my life, it is easy to see only in retrospect that I was essentially doing this set of habits stacked together. Trying to remember what had worked, it was difficult to see that a sequence of thoughts and actions got me going and kept me consistent. Off to create some notes to remind future me the next time I wander away from a helpfully consistent set of habits.

I found out last week that I'm in full menopause at 45yo. I've found that I savor my sleep especially when I know my body needs it for proper recovery every night. About 9 years ago I was waking at 3am every morning and I would use that time to study, journal or work on my website at the time, sometimes until 7am. I've learned how to help ease my peri-menopausal symptoms since Jan this year. I made it a specific goal for me to learn how to regulate my hormonal imbalance through nutrition. I wouldn't say I've cracked the code yet, but I will say I feel so much more rested than I have felt the past 4 years. So maybe I'm on the right track...? Rest for me has been key. Improved nutrition with supplements over the past 6 months has reduced the frequency and intensity of my hot flashes. I take sage (this has worked great for my brain fog!) ginger, Manuka honey, berries, prebiotic foods like yogurt and oats, turmeric (in milk), ashwaganda, DIMM, fish oils, creatine, and recently started increasing my protein intake. Trying to increase my water intake. Reduce processed foods. etc... Strength training has also helped me tremendously but I always take 1-2 rest days after a day of working out (kickboxing and/or kettlebells). Hope you find the rhythm that works best for your body. Start off with a small change then another and another. Perimenopause is no joke!
