the thing I hated most about clinical was that I felt like a burden asking questions to both my instructor and some of the nurses too (some nurses were amazing). For example, most patients on my floor were disoriented and at risk for falls, so when they'd ask me if they could go to the bathroom/use their walker, I'd have to ask the nurse if I could help them get out of bed so that I wouldn't get in trouble for actually helping them get out of bed when I wasn't supposed to. Sometimes when I'd help them to the bathroom or to the hall to ambulate, after the nurse gave me permission to do so, I'd get lectured by at least 1 person for why I made that decision..... everything was disorganized, there were contradictory decisions being made all the time, and I hated how it made me feel like an absolute idiot

Ngl im a nursing student of color and an older white female nurse i was assigned to for the day literally smacked my hand. I was livid. My school really invalidated me and said my feelings were just hurt. They never took it serious that she literally physically assaulted me. I never went back to that clinical but it sucks and has dampened my opinion of the school staff. I’m still making it through for myself and my family. I know its not the last time i will have a bad experience and be dismissed unfortunately. I’m so proud of you and inspired by you at the same time ❤️

Supervisors who say that ‘he/she is not willing to learn’ always expect you to beg them for learning opportunities and still they will push you aside :(. You did great! Congratulations 🥳
