Sarah Benz Riiiiight??? I was my hair every day because it's very fine, oily scalp and I work out daily. I still don't spend more than 10 minutes styling my curly hair every day. Co-was, condition, scrunch in my leave in and some gel, leave it to dry while I put my make up on, get dressed, have breakfast. Done. Much quicker than when I had to blow dry and then straighten my hair everyday.

I love the idea of the strainer. Especially a shallow one like that. Air gets to more hair at once than with a diffuser and it's less likely or impossible for the hair to wind up blowing around a bit causing frizz. Plus you're less likely to get hair pulled into the intake of the dryer (ouch!). I will have to find a similar strainer to try.

I see a lot people mentioning how much product you use...and I gotta say, I can relate! I have to use a TON of mouse, and only slightly less than a ton of gel - though I prefer mousse personally - and I always wonder about directions that say to use a "quarter" sized drop.... I can't cover my hair with that, and even if were to use THREE quarter sized dollops, my hair would LITERALLY dry as if no product had been put in AT ALL. So as a fellow product enthusiast, I hear ya sister! ;p

The end result looks really good but how does it feel with that much product? I’ve only just started my curly routine but I found on my first wash I used too much leave in conditioner and gel and it felt heavy and producty but on my second wash I wasn’t so liberal and it possibly wasn’t enough... is it the mouse that gives you that volume and bounce? That’s what I’m lacking. Plus I usually air dry
@pr1nc3ssm925 жыл бұрын
I've been following the CGM for less than a week: my final wash was on Sunday, and I've had the exact same experience as you! Waaaaay too much product the 1st day (I had to cowash the next day), and not enough the 2nd... 🤦🏻♀️😂🤣 Glad to see I'm not the only one! Good luck! 😁
@audreyc.crosby6275 жыл бұрын
As much as I hate to say this... It's very, very hard to get volume up and and bounce with air drying unless your hair is very curly. I have waves and ringlets but I have fine hair that is easily weighed down. I can wrap my hair in a plop and let it completely dry that way (it takes several hours) and get good volume. If I pull it out of the plop when it's less than about 80% dry it will look great for the first 5 minutes then fall very lifeless. The weight of the product, the water and just the length of my hair just pulls the curl down. If I diffuse to at least 80% dry I get tons of volume that lasts. My favorite blend is half an hour to an hour in plop then diffuse to about 80% then air dry the rest of the way.

I am trying to perfect your technique but I find that once I am done being upside down, no matter how slow my action is in getting my hair back to it's upright position, I loose most of my clumps, even if I've diffused upside down for 20-30 minutes. In fact, no matter what method I use (or how much product), I end up losing my curl clumps and introducing frizz no matter what. What am I doing wrong? Thoughts?
@holycurly74516 жыл бұрын
Hey honey!! Hum can your hair be lacking protein? One product that actually helps my curls to hold is Cantu’s Thermal Shield but if protein is the problem this product won’t help :/ What do you think?
@kellymulherron78196 жыл бұрын
Holy Curly I guess I need to take a dive into the rice water treatment. Last time I did a protein treatment in Feb, I fried my hair when leaving it in too long. Freaked to try any, but I think you might be right (as you so often are!).
@jtf1016 жыл бұрын
Have you done the hair porosity test yet? So, take a strand of hair and put it in a cup of water for about 30 minutes. If it sinks, you're high porosity and you probably need protein. If it floats, you're low porosity and you need moisture. That aside, it can be that your hair is weighed down by silicones or product build-up. Have you clarified your hair yet? Try doing that first and if your hair still won't hold the curls, then try playing around with the amounts of products. Sometimes diffusing doesn't work for some people, so air drying or plopping + air drying can be an alternative. Frizz is often an indicator of damaged or dehydrated hair, so make sure to deep condition every month, or two weeks if it's really damaged.
@aditimukhopadhyay50476 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem when I've short hair. As the length increased, the hair rejuvenates it's pattern because of it's weight. I don't know your hair length but this is from my personal experience
@kseniagalina42906 жыл бұрын
Kelly Mulherron you need to scrunch more from all sides of the head not just upside down. i use deva curl extra hold gel it has protein in it and helps to seal the hair.if your hair is high porosity they will tangle a lot more and wont stay as clumped as the girl’s here.
