You are a very open minded person and that's refreshing. I lived in an international student dorm when I was in college and I was often embarrassed by the way some of the American students living in the dorm would act. They made fun of the way other languages sounded without trying to learn them, they "wouldn't eat anything with names they couldn't pronounce," and so on. (Very closed minded people.) As an American myself, I found the attitude of many of my fellow countrymen in the dorm embarrassing. (Fortunately, some of my fellow Americans in the dorm weren't that way, but those who were were vocal about it.) You, my friend, are a breath of fresh air. Keep up the good work and please continue making videos. They're great.

I have to agree with you about the pimsleur courses I have the Japanese and Chinese and Spanish plus I have about 30 different Japanese courses about 20 different Spanish courses in about 10 or 15 different Chinese courses each one have their strength and weaknesses I mainly do Japanese and Spanish everyday think I realize you got to practice different ways the most importantly find the way that you learn best and make that your main way. But socially interact in that language helps immensely. Keep it up. I'm 53 and still teaching myself how to do different things every day. No days inactive mentally.

Frankie Light....you are truth in the polyglot community. It's always awesome to see you do what you do. I am fascinated by the fact I've lived in a predominantly Chinese part of a large city we share and never tapped into the language to truly communicate with the people. However, I winded up learned 3 other languages that made up for my inability to feel comfortable with Chinese as I would say " I would have to be beyond genius to learn Cantonese or Mandarin because of the complexity and how things are subtly broken down. 2 languages that really elude me Thai, and Chinese it's like mastering Consommé you'll feel you'll never get it 100% right. My hat goes off to you. And we also share heritage. 🍻 to you mate

I found your channel through another video but I thought it was interesting so here I am a click or two later. Thing is with being black is that it’s so weird to other black people that you are interested in something other than your own culture, your own language. I say this based on my own experiences, especially where I work. Also being from Mississippi I just mad looks from most people really just for jamming to some K-pop or C-pop. Can’t tell how how many times I get asked as to why I want to learn etc. The fact that I can speak a little amazes people but they still call me weird for it lol. Imagine watching anime or an Asian drama and someone saying to you that “You’re black why are you interested in that?” “Why not learn Spanish first?” Me being very puzzled by this but again the deep south of Mississippi loll. So it’s understandable I guess. There was a dr that worked in our ER before and he is from China. He was very shocked that I showed interest. I even spoke a little bit for him (not very well but hey 🤷🏾♀️ brownie points with the dr lol) I have a lot of love and respect for their culture which drove me to dip my hands into trying to learn. Over the last two years I have picked up a good bit by just watching tv shows/movies and listening to K-pop, C-pop etc. I totally get where you are coming from with how you learned. I think that’s honestly the best way to learn any new language. My friend Haru is Korean, she helps me with my pronunciations. With my dyslexia, my brain is just wired differently. I want to learn so much more than I have thus far. I have a lot on my plate right now and I just don’t have the time to commit the way I truly want to. That’s not exactly stopping me thou, I try to squeeze a lesson or two in when I can so my process is slower. I know I’ll get there eventually. Anyways said all that to say that it’s really cool how you just put yourself out there and went for what you wanted to achieve! I think its awesome to branch out and make yourself more diverse. To bend in and be able to relate to the world around you.
