So satisfying seeing that generator working! And exhaust in. And ground in. Your checklist is really getting to just a few pages long now.

Thanks Ken. It's getting very close now. Almost done all the work under the bonnet and then I will start on the interior.

Another great video, Ian. One note about the rear tailpipe strap - the one with the rubber isolated block. It's a joke. Mine lasted about 3 weeks. It's just glued and will never hold. What I did was drill a hole through the rubber block. Then I got a threaded steel sleeve and cut it to be just a tad longer than the thickness of the block. Countersink and a flat head screw on the back of the steel mount. Then slip the block through the sleeve and put an oversize washer and bolt on the outside. Stronger, swivels a little for engine torque and still isolates.

Thanks Dan. I'll keep an eye on that exhaust mount.

I suspect that when the weather gets nice again, you might want to "restore" the exhaust pipe. What I do for my ancient projects is: (1) give a light sanding to remove the loose rust, (2) give rust treatment inside and out for the pipe (either a commercial product or cheap vinegar, and (3) use a high temp paint for long-term protection.

Thanks for this Steve. I may be upgrading the exhaust in the not too distant future so I'm not too worried about the current pipe. Other than having to splice it back together it was in very good shape.

Looking good Ian. In case you still want to test the generator you could also use a battery charger instead of a battery.

Thanks Gareth. I might just give the battery charger a try.

Is it better to attach the carbs after you install the intake manifold?
@EconoboxGarage Жыл бұрын
I believe so, yes. The two middle nuts/studs for the manifold would be a bit of a challenge to get to with the carbs and heat shield in place, especially with the engine in the car.

@@EconoboxGarage Ok thanks! Yeah, they were kind of hard to deal with when i took it off with those carbs in the way.
