That wood burning technique is called "Shou Sugi Ban", Also you can use a step drill bit on the end and make the hole a kinda/sorta funnel, that would make the sound a bit louder, also using some poly to coat the hole, making is smoth, would also make the sound a bit louder.. An interesting project, I've seen dozens of DIY phone amplifiers, but that one is an extremely simplified version of one, and something almost anyone could make, Thank you for sharing..
@Patriotsglow11 күн бұрын
@@TheWolfster001 thank you for the comment and great ideas. Lol yeah I know what the burned wood is. I just don't want to butcher the name by saying it out loud. And you are right the poly does help with the acoustic. The ones that I've sold sound much better after the poly. I should try and step the drill down size wise. These were great ideas. And welcome to the channel.

Hey brother I usually watch all your videos through my Firestick which allows me to "like" but not comment. So that's what brings me to my desktop this morning. I want to show my support for your channel and you of course, not to mention every important message your shirts share 👍Your channel has a raw, authentic feel that I think is awesome! And who wouldn't stand with a patriot! Keep up the great work my friend 🫡 PS YT sucks, I'm trying to post an emoji of the American flag and it's not letting me.... I bet a China flag would work smh

2:10 you mention here that your second line is at 3 1/4”, but then later when your marking out the other pieces you say 3 3/4”. I think a whole inch wide dado is too wide. Am I missing something here? Just curious. Great video!
@Patriotsglow13 күн бұрын
@@mrmyblessednest1722 okay, I see what your saying. So, depending on which direction your measuring from your measurements will be different. So while I was measuring I must have been measuring from the opposite side. Coming from the short end. It will be 1 1/4 then 2 1/4, with a total of 5 inches long. Coming from the long end, its 2 3/4 then 3 3/4. With a total length of 5 inches. Sorry about the mistake good catch.

You could also use a router to make the cut out. A 3/4” drill bit would work as well since they are available in longer lengths.

I appreciate your video, worth a thumbs up and subscribe; but why wait until 11 minutes in to tell us what you're making? Thanks.
@Patriotsglow12 күн бұрын
@@DataJanitor so there is a longer explanation into it. But the short answer is that it keeps the audience engaged in wanting to see what's being made or what the next steps are. I always started my videos with what I made first and engagement was low. I guess for entertainment purposes this works better. If you watch some earlier videos I made. I showcase what I made first then the build. And the video analytics are significantly worse. I appreciate the comment and the question, the best question about the video filming and editing yet!!! Thank you and happy to have you as part of the community.

@ hey no problem but can I also ask why your phone slot is so wide?
@Patriotsglow10 күн бұрын
@chuckfreed282 mainly so that the speaker can angle for the sound to go into the hole better that's all. It can be shortened up so that the phone sits up better.

couldn't you use a 2 X 6 and rabbet out the whole board with a track saw or a router then cut the width you want for each piece and then mark and drill them and that would be it

One more thing, people please disable any ad blocker or Honey extension if clicking a link on this and all your favorite YT contend makers site. Those extension take the credit from your YT creators and the help you think you're giving these channels isn't going to them. After clicking a link you can turn them back on, personally I delete Honey from my extensions. Do a YT search and see how you/we were being misguided by them.

I checked out your Etsy shop. You’re doing great, but you’re cutting yourself short. Several items you have for $5-$10 with free shipping. Even for these shipping will be around $5. Etsy charges fees. You’re not covering your material costs or time! Of course you do what works for you, but you’re underpricing by quite a bit!
@Patriotsglow9 күн бұрын
Thank you for your kind message. I definitely take a look at pricing and possibly reevaluate these. Thank you.
