Watching this from my iPad Air when I should be on the kindle app reading my textbook for class 😂

Both for me. The kindle paperwhite is lightweight and has insane battery life. Wonderful for reading at night. I use my ipad for comics, bigger textbooks or pdfs. The ipad also allows me to get work done I can complete on my phone. I get library books from the Libby app (normally on my phone) and have it send to my kindle devices. Everything syncs. My highlights are available after the book loan ends. I'm fine with the catch and release of books.

Very fair! If I could I would do both because there’s definitely instances the Paperwhite blows the iPad out of the water.

Great video! I’m team IPad, since I’m gradually falling out of love with my Kindle. The way we’re not the real owners of the books we buy is inconceivable. Actually, we don’t even totes own our devices, since we have to send to Amazon our DRM free epubs for them to convert and add to our library, not to mention the poor and few customisation tools… I’d love to have a pocketbook e-reader, but in my country we can only find Kindles and the import fees are too expensive to consider any other device. So, I’ve been reading more and more on my IPad mini 6 lately and a matte magnetic screen protector is doing the trick fairly well to minimise the glare. I also turn on the “focus” mode to avoid most of the distractions. And that’s it! The practicality won, after all. And the freedom of reading from multiple sources, besides Amazon, is simply great. Seriously, I’m only reading on my Kindle to read books I can’t find anywhere else and have to buy from Amazon, but I’m quite sure this will be my last Kindle, if they don’t change their policy… drastically, since I can have my kindle library on the app.

Yes I totally agree! Ipad is the way to go. Kindle system is very locked down and limited if you want something outside of their core services.

Thanks for the video. I waffle back and forth between the two --- a Kindle and an iPad. However, I just bit the bullet and ordered a brand new 256 GB Kindle Mini A7 that will pretty much commit me to using the latter for most things, particularly when color and illustrations are involved. A Kindle has a hard time showing complex formatting of pages. However, for plain text, such as novels, a Kindle is hard to beat.

Great video wish you had mentioned the Libby app. When I was trying to decide between kindle and iPad it was a no brainer that I wanted the iPad for comicbooks manga and Libby. The thought of being locked into the kindle ecosystem made me feel claustrophobic when I can just download the kindle app 😅

Good video! I think iPads fit into three categories for most people: a consumption device for videos, social and reading; a hybrid of work and consumption; or a full time work device. For users that need to use their desktop or laptop for work, the iPad is perfect for consuming content or reading. Appreciate you sharing how you set up the focus and shortcuts.

I agree! iPad is great for a lot of things as long as it’s out to the right use and functions, otherwise it just becomes an expensive redundancy. Thank you for watching!!

Onyx Boox devices are a good middle ground between the Kindle and an iPad. You get the ability to install apps and side load books but with an e-ink display. But this is a great way to repurpose an iPad that isn’t used often.

I really want to try out the Palma at some point! Love the display and size.

I really hope kindle comes with a webcomic function soon 😢 I want to be less on the phone or tablet due to the blue light

Awesome video! Would you be able to explain how you tweaked your settings to make it feel/look more like a kindle? I love the idea of repurposing what we already have. Let me know your thoughts!
@ardentlytech28 күн бұрын
Absolutely! First step is setting up a “Reading” focus mode so that I have a simple wallpaper and only shows the reading apps. I have a focus mode video here: iPhone Focus Mode for Beginners (Set Up & Ideas) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHzNd4aFhNSmZ7M Then I set up a reduce white point feature in settings. At the very top if you search for “triple tap” accessibility features you can set a shortcut for triple tapping your home button to automatically reduce the white point (basically dramatically dims the screen to reduce eye strain) then when you’re done you can just triple tap again to bring the white level back up. Thank you for watching this video by the way!

Team iPad! Is there an iOS eReader app that you can handwrite notes (annotate)? I purchased a Kobo Libra, but when I imported my Kindle library, it would not allow handwritten notes. Thoughts?

Yellow screen filter can you show us how?
@Mr.Peck882 ай бұрын
I believe the yellow screen filter he is referring to is the Night Shift feature… 1. Go to Settings 2. Select Display and Brightness 3. Select Night Shift 4. Choose either to schedule the time you want to use the yellow screen or manually enable until tomorrow. 5. Then choose the color temperature you want. (Less warm or more warm.) The further right you go (more warm) the more yellow the screen will be.

I have an old iPad that I might be able to turn into an e-reader.
@greglynes1832 ай бұрын
Very informative but you seem a little rushed in your delivery and I found it difficult to follow some of the technical parts (it doesn't help that I am a newbie to the apple /ios realm though - having been a Windows user all my life). That being said I would like to see an instructional video of how to make all the settings on an iPad to get the closest e-reading environment compared to e-ink / e-reader. A step by step "how to" video and it would be nice to include what are the best e-reader apps that can also be an audio reader (preferably ones with an AI voice instead of SIRI) as they seem more natural.
