Anthony Muigai has been a farmer in Kenya for the last five years.
Using biogas, he powers his home, car and boiler in order to shower and refill his fish pond.
He showed us how and why he doesn't just use his chickens for eggs.

Kenya produces more than enough electricity but the tariffs are quite on the higher side that's why people like him must find alternative means to power their lives.

Tariff would be a tax on an incoming import material, no? How does that play into an already domestic fuel? Sounds like you made shit up to justify why he is independently powering his life.

He's smart because he has researched it and put the existing knowledge into practice. You can produce biogas from any manure and even food waste quite easily and then the gas can be used for cooking or to run gas powered showers or gas powered generators as he shows. He hasn't invented anything here but I admire him for putting into practice what he has learnt.

True.. that could be an ideal strategy. Pooling resources to help the community. 🎉 It's an awesome idea for the few. There's an organisation..can't remember the name that was planning that approach. It'll need a rex biodigester that can occupy less space but be efficient to use to the commercial level.

This is brilliant! This should be looked Into as a serious alternative to our current gas and electric solutions world wide. It would provide an extra income for farmers also. Governments can get the slurry from farms and put it in the tank to send the biogas out to homes, I’d happily have this in the uk! Changing it over to all council homes would save people a fortune and would be a better alternative for the planet as a whole

Lol brilliant 👏. I wish he elaborated more on the methane extraction. Also I find it hilarious that a combustible engine was powering an electric car lol. For everyone harping about co2 emissions remember methane is a worse greenhouse gas than co2. Burning methane is a fairly clean gas and converts to co2 when burned which plants and trees consume anyways. Ranches all over the world need to harness this untapped renewable resource at their feet. It's technically free energy and enough of it is around in one's own ranch they can make a serious profit!
