I find your video very inspiring. I am from India. Here I am wanted to started the homestead by getting some land. So yea, this is great intel. Yet this evening, before seeing your vids, just finished turning the soil in two 5X10 beds that are about 18 - 24 inches in depth. What I did was remove the soil & layer chicken manure - hay mixture, covering each layer with 5 to 6 inches of the soil. Soil was already dark in color via several years of chicken manure compost. After seeing this vid, now realize might be exposing the saplings to unwanted microbes. Yikes! Spinach, Bok Choy, Red Leaf, & such for a spring harvest. Time will tell. 🤠

More like animal bedding made from 100% recycled grounds that have no caffeine. This is on the floor of the run along with Zeolite. I don't use grounds that contain caffeine which would be harmful, just purchased and leached. There are several companies that it can be bought from. I have used it for 20 years and love it. So at the end of September this year, I dumped our hemp bedding in one of our raised beds which has dirt but no plants in there. I was hoping that we could use that garden bed to plant in come spring. When I go to turn it, it seems like it's breaking down well, and it looks like dirt. Do you think it will be ready for March planting?

I’ve been doing it wrong. Usually I just put it outside the coop on the side and over a while when it loses scent I use it. But I just put some on my storage roof to dry some more as it’s actually been hot for over a month in its pile. It’s clumped and still really hot and scented. But some parts are dry. In short I thought you dried it first and then compost with leaves. But I guess I’ll get some of the grass cuttings from work tomorrow and just move it to a different spot and add the heads cuttings to it as it does it’s thing huh. I also have a piece of tarp I can use for it. :o very helpful. I at least learned something new here. As I was thinking I would have to dry it and then grind it down into a powder and then compost it. 😊😅

I had some manure that I forgot in a ole bag on the land, when I went to the area, it has some moss growing on the side along with rooted plants and small trees growing on the bag. Inside is a super fluffy and light soil that just feels good and squishy. Can this be used as fertilizer or just all new soil? Asking since it has worms etc in it. So I’d just use it in a pot for my DraGonfruits and some veggies I want to plant in pots.
@Alisorganics
@Alisorganics Жыл бұрын
Sounds like it’s broke down enough to be used as soil. You could add just a little bit of potting soil just to be on the safe side. But more than likely with the worms, and other activity it’s completely broke down. 😉

My bins are in contact with the ground. They have a foundation around them to keep the structure secure. This is a great video. Ive a chicken farm & a buffalo farm.. I use wood shavings as chicken coop bedding. In 2 months time all the wood shaving will be like saw dust. I kept tht mix for 7 months now.. But did not water it till now.. Tomorrow i ll water it & will check if temperature is increasing or not. Then i ll use in my veg garden. Im planing to mix this mixture with fresh chicken poop, kitcken waste & water it.. Will keep it on a cemented floor. Is tht s ok?? Love from India.. Just subscribed ur channel now.. Awesome content.

We have an organic no til vegetable and cannabis Garden. Our chickens are pasture raised and freely roam our garden throughout the summer. We top all of our soil at the base of the plants with fresh chicken manure and have zero problems. Where I could see it, maybe being a problem is if your plan teen seeds or seedlings, they might get burned other than that no issues.

What kind of tarp is that? It looks cloth. I've only ever seen plastic tarps.

My husband mixed the fresh chicken poop wood shavings with 2 yards of garden soil for my garden bed. What can I do ?? How can I turn it into compost or how can I use the soil now?
@Alisorganics
@Alisorganics Жыл бұрын
It take a while for the fresh manure to break down in the soil. How much fresh chicken poo to the 2 yards? If it's a small amount, it may be ok. To much it can burn the plants.

This is a great video. Can I use a compost bin tumbler and get the same results? Thanks

Thank you! Yes you can. Just be sure the center gets moist. Sometimes tumblers don’t incorporate the water well in the beginning.

Yes! Zeolite! It is safe for chickens. It absorbs ammonia smells.. if any and it make the chicken manure/bedding a better fertilizer. Plus, increases the hardness of egg shells. It's just a natural grit for the girls.

I made a 3x3 pile in the spring last year using layers of chicken bedding and leaves. It got about 155° for a few days then quickly got cold. I turned it and rewet it a few times but it never warmed up or broke down further. Was it too dry? (I live in Utah where we had a super hot, dry summer and it wasn't covered.)

Yes, It can have alfalfa seeds or other that may have been grown with the alfalfa, But by heating up the compost to 140 - 160° F and turning it this kills of weed seeds as well. It doesn’t have to be used though. Other organic matter can be used. I use it because it is otherwise waste and haven’t had any issues.

So, if the temp of the pile is 135 to 145 at highest then theoretically you could wrap up a ham(I believe internal temp of 140 is done) in some foil and not heat up the kitchen. Just kidding. Don't attempt this. Who wants a manure flavored ham.
