The most helpful about this tutorial is that we do a LOT of things in a similar way but I often feel stuck after doing lines. Flat colors are fine but I struggle with shading and finding a way that's a little painterly while still following some set stages (I need a set process for orientation and motivation). I love the way you incorporate the lineart and then paint over it. I'm definitely gonna try that and I feel super inspired by this guide, thank you so much! I'm also gonna adjust my brush interface, I wasn't aware I could change the things that were bothering me.

Oh my gosh, I just downloaded clip studio paint and I'm still getting used to it, I hope this is helpful. Also I love your videos Lauren, you inspire me so much! ❣️💖 I just finished the video and I honestly didn't know you could hide things, I thought it was a little annoying that the bars were there sometimes so this helped a lot. I often switch between the eraser and the transparent pen depending on if I want the lines to be fully erased or if I want them to be kind of transparent, and it's really nice to choose instead of turning the opacity down like I used to!

This was super helpful!! Probably a dumb question, but what does "alpha locking" mean? Ive never fully understood what locking opacity does in SAI but i assume its similar?
@ayeoops18 күн бұрын
it means you're locking the pixels of the layers and restricting what you draw to those existig pixels. if you draw a circle and alpha lock it, when you draw on it with a different color your brush strokes will be locked to that existing circle. its like clipping mask but within the same layer

This has very little to do with the video (which is very nice and insightful, thank you for making it) but it is such a big character design pet peeve of mine when characters have two sets of ears. So I'm just watching this video with my eye twitching because the ears are so distracting. This is SO a me problem and do not mean you're bad at art or that video is bad. I just needed to say this so I can focus on the actually information in the video.
@ayeoops Жыл бұрын
totally understand. in this case, its not explained in the vid but they're not deer ears, they're sensors rather. doesn't use them to hear if that makes it any better 😅
@jeaniegirlover5335 Жыл бұрын
@@ayeoops I get that but for me it just makes the head very busy for my taste. I would've made them a bit smaller or thinner so they take up less space on the head and placed them farther away from the ears like on the top of the head or closer to the forehead where insects have antennae. The design as is can easily be confused as a fawn or satyr character. If that wasn't the intent may be a design tweak is in order (if you can or want to, the design isn't bad just confusing and crowded)
