Yeah that's literally how people play kapkan for real. They just need to get the victim to reasonably ignore the details required to avoid their traps, either by actually engaging, blocking with barricades or castle, reinforcements/peekholes, and lots more. I spent a good quarter of my playtime maining Kappy and it was fun.

I have buck main brain so I always make shortcuts through breachable walls to specifically avoid doorframe chokepoints. It's a little tricky but you can do it in one shot with the pocket shotguns if you get the range to the wall right. Usually two, but it works.

I use this concept to play Goyo, I like to make sure that the traps are placed where I expect them to go and where I also don’t want them to be. They also are placed so that you can shoot them from a safe angle. Keeps people at bay when pushing

I also do this with thorne traps and kapkan normally they see the thorn go off and loose all ability to check doors and just run through to escape especially if you soft cover the other routes and then run right into the kapkan and anyone following them gets hit by the thorn

Whenever I play Castle I always pay attention to who’s using what operator and try to help them out with plays exactly like this because as Castle you’re not supposed to barricade into site. Placing Castle barricades in locations like that on Bank are very rewarding and create unique opportunities

Same thing when i play Goyo, put a volcan on the lowest part of a window so once someone vaults without having broken it all just enough to get a prompt, they'll get cooked And highest spot on a door barricade, expecting them to break it while crouched so once it breaks, fire rains froms above. TL;DR if you're playing as a trapper, place your traps accordingly, think where an enemy could come from, study your opponents on the first round, see their habits and either lure and counter or hook line and sinker, it's your call As Sun Tzu said, all warfare is based on deception
