It takes a special kind of person to spend so much time organizing notes and reference material, and I am so down for it.

The advantage of Readwise is that it works with scanned PDFs as well, of which I personally have many because many of the older books relevant for my work are scans. Additionally, the Readwise option works for Obsidian as well, which is another advantage because for me Logseq is a replacement for the 2nd Obsidian vault, and notes from different kinds of books/papers go into different 'vaults' to be worked on further.

I swear, I found logseq a couple days ago and now it's all I see. So good. In the process of loading things in. Also, the video has been uploaded at 360p.

It looks like the 4k processing ran a little long today on the KZbin side - it should be finished within the next half hour. Sorry and thanks for letting me know!

@@ItsAlanYoung No worries. Just showing my ignorance about the youtube machine. I just looked back and realized I have watched all 3 of your videos. Solid editing. I did not expect a young channel after watching your first two videos. Keep it up and good luck!

Great Video Alan! The PDF reader in Logseq is great but I find that because it remains a highlight, it is still essentially a copy/pasted item that I did not fully integrate in my thinking and then I have difficulty using it in a context different from the source. Seems like we just have to read and rewrite a highlight to really understand it and I now avoid copy & pasting as far as I can. I also find that - similar to Obsidian - the plugins are major distractions and I constantly have the urge to play with another plugin, use it and 2 weeks later realize I forgot how to use it properly and then have to start again. The syncing of the Vault between machines is also another obstacle you have to overcome. Even if you do, the mobile apps are vastly inferior to the desktop apps, and many plugins non-functional. So, although I like Logseq a lot, I just went back to Roam Research. I was wondering why you use Omnivore if you already have a subscription to ReadWise - their Reader (which is fabulous) does the same and will import your highlights through the ReadWise plugin

I'm gonna have to try the PDF feature again, as the last time I did it wouldn't format the text properly when I copied it over, this was quite some time ago though. I currently use Zotero to read PDFs, then bringing those highlights into Logseq. So ta for this. 🙂 I don't agree with the philosophy of only having the information in one place, though, as I prefer to use Obsidian when I'm ready to put that information into my own words and in a way that makes sense to me! Plus, with the way I learn it's best for me to write things out multiple times, for that particular piece of information to finally sinc in.

Unfortunately it seems the PDF annotation feature is not available in Linux. One can still do that with side-by-side copy&paste with a little more wor, but this feature is cool. And great job explaining it! 👏

Bro, all good. In thumbnail you have shown ipad , but unfortunately this PDF feature dosent work in my ipad 😢. Requested so many times to logseq in discord etc, they say still working. I use logseq a lot in my ipad pro M1 which is more comfortable to work with the magickeyboard.

Awesome sauce, Alan. I've been a Logseq user for over a year. I use it for daily research on many different topics. I've been using logseq with a Zotero database, mostly because I was afraid of depending only on logseq's native pdf reader/annotator for "heavy work" (12gb PDF database) . I find Logseq's integration with zotero a bit clunky (to say the least) but quite reliable, zotero's desktop app is very capable. Nonetheless, a frictionless logseq-only workflow sounds perfect. Alan, how do feel Logseq's speed and performance will keep up with a large number (10 Gbs) of pdfs inside it? Have you had any significant crashes? Keep up the good vids!

Hi, could you elaborate on the "clunkyness" of Zotero integration? I have a huge Zotero database (Going on on 18 years of research) and I recently started using Logseq.

Hi how does LS handle images (E.g. png, jpeg) in notes in terms of working with them (any features/options before them just being inline?) and how fast they load? Is there any import from other apps tools? E.g. Evernote/Notion to LS? Also what is the difference between LS and Bear 2.0? Thank you!

If you are going to use readwise can't you just save websites to readwise and skip needing to use an extra service like omnivore? Doesn't the readwise reader automatically give you a great interface to highlight in? Is omnivore just a free alternative?

Can we use these annotation features with the .pdf outside the graph? Or the pdf should be always inside? Thanks!

manually copy pasting everything highlight seems a lot of friction actually. isn't there a function to export all highlights?
