Machine Learning is pure STATISTICS. I have a degree in Statistics and one of my best topics was Regression and Correlation Analysis. But nobody told me it was a major aspect of Machine Learning! I didn't even know Machine Learning was a thing 5-7 years ago!!! 😭😭😂😂🤣🤣😅

@@keepcontinue Ok. Data Science/Machine Learning is statistics heavy. At least you should know basic descriptive statistics, probability distribution, and Correlation & Regression analysis. But a good place to start learning data analytics is Excel, then SQL, followed by either Power or Tableau (or both, which I recommend), then Python for Data Science/Analysis. You'll need to have good knowledge of Statistics and statistical concepts to do Data Science. Projects are very important. As you learn a tool, practice it by doing a project to build your portfolio. Projects help you put into practice what you have already learnt.

There is a non-native Excel add-in called RegressIt or RegressItLogistic that can handle more machine learning models beyond the Data Analysis tool pack in Excel. It's quite awesome as you can do EDA and also plot a confusion matrix.

Linear regression is extremely important in business and multiple linear regression solves a LOT of the issues where linear regression is not good enough. Forming a solid basis with those is great.

I have lots of experience in statistics but am just starting to learn about machine learning. When you talk about linear regression as a machine learning model, is this the same as a basic linear model from an intro stats class? I've never heard linear regression referred to as supervised learning models and I just want to make sure I understand the ML vernacular.

Yeah very much the same, linear regression is commonly covered in statistics class; AND is a method implemented in supervised machine learning

I’d focus on the business problem and any change management necessary…and the algorithms last. I’d also focus on getting out of excel and into Sheets as fast as possible.

It's great however i'm sad that you don't mention about statistics significance. The model means nothing if r^2 is up to the roof but variables are insignificant

Hey Luke, great video as always: information, script, post-production. What will you choose: Mac Book Pro 14' M1 Max 64GB or Lenovo T14 Gen 3 Intel i7 with 48GB RAM? Please consider that you would like access to Power Query, Power BI, and other staff available only for Windows. Would you get used to running a Virtual Machine all the time just to stay with mac os or go with Windows?

I feel the safe bet is to go with the Lenovo that has Windows... with so much reliance on windows for your job in this case... go with a windows machine.

That is not how R2 is used, it is used to calculate to variation of prediction compare to variation of grouth truth, please recheck it.

I’m an IT student and it’s been a while that I work on neural networks, for example in my thesis, I’m using PyTorch library to classify some nodes in a large social network dataset. I had an intel MacBook Pro and I sold it. now I wanna buy a MacBook for doing so. As you know Apple has a back to school promotion and I could buy a 14-inch MacBook Pro or an iPad Pro besides an M2 MacBook air. Which one should I go with? The 14-inch MacBook pro or the combo (iPad +MacBook air) If I choose the M2 MacBook air is it need to upgrade the ram to 16gb or the base model would be enough. Thank you again.
