Thanks, very useful videos. The one thing I cannot work out is how do you manage to get 8 NDI feeds out of vMix? I thought the limit was 4 NDI outputs?

Thanks. If you enable inputs to NDI in the output tab in settings, all your cam inputs and vmix call inputs appear as NDI

Hinton, cheers and thank you for offering such great resources for learning. I would be very interested in seeing a bit more on your Unity Server set up and with Dante. Do you ever have a need to interface with a third party comm (clear-com, rts)? Cheers.

Setup a bus as mix minus for unity (everything except the IFB channel from unity) and send over Dante. On the Unity server set DVS as the input and output devices, make an IFB channel and assign it to output 1 and route over Dante. Add that as an input in vmix and you have proper 2-way comms between vmix and unity.

Another cracking video Jon. Could you share an example live stream you have produced I’m struggling to imagine the type of content that this level of excellence sits behind. Also does adding delay to programme sound confuse callers when they hear themselves delayed on the programme return? Thanks again.

Hey Mark, thanks. I will dig some footage out and post. Ref the callers return. They never hear themselves back only the other callers. If mixing all the returns then I won't send them back to themselves. If using just one return for all of them, then I would set it up so vmix deals with their mix minus, and I just add in the extra audio sources. Like vt, comns etc.

Hi Jon. You are great I must say! One question. How is the over all delay of sound when sending to X32 and then back to VMix? For me I already have problem with VMix "built in" sound delay. I have to set a video delay to my 8 SDI camera inputs to sync with audio from my Focusrite sound interface. It´s very frustating to have to do such thing.

Thanks steff. Yeh, you can't do it! Vmix's latency on its audio sends and recieve busses is simply too long. That's why TX mix never goes back to vmix but direct to encoders. Returning a mix back to vmix call is OK as can get away with the slight delay.

I have a haydes canyon which is a great mini vmix system with an external thunderbolt chassis and a decklink quad in it. It's my backup vmix call system, but mostly used for things like ppt, Google meet etc. I have a quartz. Canyon i9 nuc with 2070 in which is my main vmix call machine, and I have another i7 10th gen bean canyon which is used for sending webrtc returns to people. My main machine is a monster 32core threadripper.

Too bad the X32 core is no longer available. Anyone know of an alternative that doesn’t have a bunch of analog Ins and outs?

M32 core is still available. But realy the x32 rack is the best bang for buck as you can use as an analogue to Dante and Dante to analogue convertor as well.

When running dante only you don't have to worry about preamps, the processing quality is more than sufficient for remote callin work and comms, the integration with applications like companion is great. If I was running live FOH or tracking music I would use my A&H SQ or Advantis. Behringer have made some junk in their time but the x32/m32 range have proven to be excellent mixers for the money and are ideal additions to a remote broadcast workflow. IMHO :)
