Coming from the Lake district I reckon the horn is from a Swale Ram. Like the way the Adder is shaping up, you might find a Dremel type tool handy for carving. Good point about the liability ins and stuff. I'm strictly amateur making things I like for friends and family. Have a couple of projects sitting in the house, waiting for the epoxy to set before I can finish them. I've made a couple of jigs to make it easier to work on shaping/carving the shanks and have butchered some hole saws to make it easier to centre the holes for the dowels/threaded bar. Many thanks for your videos.

Hi ,if carving is to be more than occasionally the odd stick it's a necessity for me to get a correct tool like a dremel as you say. I have been to Patterdale to see the area my dog came from many years ago so it's nice to hear you suggest the sheep variety the cane head could have come from. Your jigs sound like they make work a whole lot easier for you. Thanks for watching and commenting. Andy.

Buy yourself a Fordham die grinder ,it will change your carving process dramatically, all the best.

Hi. Yeah if I include carving more into my hiking sticks i will have to get a dremel and proper burs to make my life easier and faster. I manage at the moment but it's a struggle as you can see. Thanks for watching and commenting on this channel. Andy.

Which TIC is that? We are traveling to Cornwall next summer. A friend is interested in a bog standard but handmade walking staff. I've used a hickory staff for almost 30 years, wearing out about six tips.

Hi, I am based in North Cornwall, (home of King Arthur) lol. My hiking sticks are mostly Hazelwood with copper compression fitted tips. They have a good life span off road. I am sure you will have a good time here in the ancient celtic land or Kernow (Cornwall). Thanks for watching, Andy.
