I am delighted by you. I watched some of your first videos. Because I really hate how the neck of my t-shirts. Choke me and I'm not even a heavy weight person. I think I was looking for videos on how to make the neck of my T-shirt bigger without making it. Look stupid and I found you were very shy. And very concerned about your English delivery. There were many apologies. But people gave you a lot of grace. Probably because you are so humble and so authentic. I do not watch every one of your videos. But I watch a lot of them. Or I let them play while I'm driving so I can hear you perfect thorough descriptions. You went from not even knowing really. How to make a video to now? Having almost 150000 subscribers. I know that you are grateful. But you should also be pleased with the results of your efforts. Well done Well, well done.

Your introduction is inspirational (at least for me). I'm semi retired with an engineering degree, (and more). I have worked on both (hot & not) nuclear reactors, and now since I travel often to a hot climate, (in SE Asia) I like to "show off my legs", and most men's shorts are just too long!!! Since I like "learning & doing", I found your channel, and love it!!! I spent 20 years in design (mechanical / hydraulic & pneumatic / welding / machining (and field machining)) I love the idea that for a few dollars, I alter a pair of nice shorts, and make them look like a "million dollars". (I am the second Million Dollar man, having been "put back together" by a team of physicians about 10 years ago! I promise, I won't lift Harley Davidson FLHCTUI's after they fall down). I love you and your channel, you're wonderful! (You have a lucky husband, tell him that the "million dollar man said so!") (I'm married to a Thai nurse, I'm not hitting on you, just complimenting you on your wonderful personality! You're wonderful! Thank you for your wonderful content!) You are very gifted, I'm glad you are sharing your knowledge.

Hi, thank you so much for your videos and for sharing your journey with us all. I learned to sew at age 4 while in my Grandma's lap on a Singer Treadle machine and then fine tuned some skills at age 11 on a left handed electric machine bought at a yard sale, even though I am right handed, lol. In my 20's, I became a Nurse but opened my own dressmaking and alterations business from home and ran that for 5 years but had to close due to health problems. For many years now, I sew only for me, my Hubby and home. I think of you as a Sewing Friend who keeps me motivated and refreshes my skills. Keep on being exactly yourself. Hugs!

Thank you so much for this! 😃 Are journeys to the sewing machine, cutting table, and dress form, can be filled with joy, excitement, and some times a crippling fear🥺. I have had times when I've been chained to a sewing machine, for 8 hours, willingly hand sewing, and worrying about did I get the right measurements,🤔 will it fit, 🤨did I cut too much, did I not cut enough, 😬and your heart beats as fast as time moves on, because there is always a battle with time. I would like to thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and journey, may your hands be ever blessed by ❤.

I took sewing and design/pattern making in high school in Canada in the 70's. I sewed a lot for my kids. A ladt from El Salvador taught me to sew without patterns- that was really freeing. Now I specialize in Maplelea/American Girl doll clothes, and made patterns for those things. I do a lot of up- cycling. I also knit. Like you, I have hit my sweet spot. I realky enjoyed your video and shared it to my granddaughter who loves design as well.

You have taught me so much over the last few years. It's not easy to learn when you are 76 years old, but you have helped me. I have been sewing for over 60 years. I am a pattern person. Never could get the hang of pattern making. But I have had to take in and let out and hem jeans. Thank you. My father taught me to sew on a machine, and my primary teachers taught me to hand sew. Now I make little things to sell, to stay busy. Merry Christmas to you and your family and love from NC

I learned the most basic sewing skills in my late teens from my grandmother- my mother learned as a girl but hated doing it so she never taught me even though I used to make doll clothes using hand sewing and cutting up old baby clothes as a very young child. Now I have kids and I started by making them costumes. I don't have time for a traditional class so I am SO GRATEFUL to learn from your expertise in a way that I can go at my own pace. I've started the course and just got all my supplies collected. Just waiting till after the holiday to start focusing on it.

I'm so glad! Unfortunately, there are too many alterations places that don't make enough effort. I recognize that sometimes this happens due to customer's not wanting to pay. However, cutting corners and not doing things well does a huge disservice to the profession and art.

Thank you for sharing your story! I started sewing at 6-7 years old and still have sooo much to learn. So it is impressive seeing people who started sewing later, become so talented! Takes a lot of dedication. I got turned down from a bunch of alteration shops also, until I got a chance with a uniform company. Easy stuff mostly but I still learned a lot! I’m sure I could get hired at a bridal shop if I wanted to. Just keep looking, be confident, and someone will give you a chance! Doing freelance work was also very helpful in getting opportunities because people see that you are taking initiative; that you are passionate.

I really adore you😍 You are so talented woman. Same how, we both have the same story, I also prove my self to my family back home, by graduating from law and political science and working for government for over 13 years. I learned how to sew at the very young age first from my mom then by going to a professional sewing course. I leave everything behind 3 years ago for my kids bright future by coming to Canada. Now I am working with an alteration company and also signed up for fashion studies course for becoming more professional. I wish I get to know you closely so I could learned more from you🥰

I love your style of teaching. You are funny and knowledgeable, and this channel is such a great resource! Personally, I’ve always been interested in fixing things or making things. This has led to *many* interests. I have had a sewing machine for years, but it was mask making that kept my interest long enough to get decent. Now I hand make nearly all my presents, and because my family loves me they smile and say thank you 😂

My grandmother taught me to sew with a machine when I was about 7 years old. It’s not my favorite crafty activity but it’s certainly valuable. I avoid technical sewing (clothes and precision) in favor of simpler, utilitarian sewing like reusable pillow covers and bags. Thanks for sharing your story.

I loved this so much! Thank you for sharing! -- I am currently a phd student in statistics lite but have always been crafty. I've always wanted to learn to sew and finally bought a machine in 2021, a cheap plastic bubble of a machine. I hated it. Then one day I found a Singer 401a for $35 at a thrift store. Fell in love and started practicing more. In just 1.5 years I've made a dozen pieces I wear in my daily life. (I've also acquired 100s of vintage patterns and about 20 vintage sewing machines. I just find the machines and the way they work so beautiful.) My goal for myself was initially just alterations, thinking I could never sew a full garment. Now my goal is to make my whole wardrobe from my own designs. Your videos are so wonderful and helpful. I absolutely loved learning your super impressive back story! Thank you and Happy Holidays!

You started sewing as a teenager though! I started at 35, imagine how behind I feel! 😅 But I dont care how long it takes me, I want to be a great sewer and design my own clothes. 3 and half years later, my skills have grown a lot; I just finished sewing a button up shirt for my husband, have designed my own face mask and apron patterns, and have made several easy garments for myself. I am not giving up!!!
