Our job is to develop a business model that makes our content sustainable. Treating your online efforts as a business is how I able to earn $10,000/month on my channel with only 3,000 subscribers. I feel like depending on how you plan to use twitch, these steps can truly help a lot. However for those looking to show off their raw talent rather it's video games or even maybe an IRL stream with them doing something incredible. You need a jump start or a little help. I stream daily, and try to upload KZbin videos at least once a week, I get normally 10 or less views per stream throughout it. But even if someone hosts me with 2 views I'm happy because that's two people I now know I'm entertaining rather they wanted to see my content or not, I have a weird drive to really enjoy wanting to entertain people. Especially when it comes to playing video games and chatting with new people!

the strategy I'm trying to go for is using my YT and twitch to increase visibility for my DJing. That seems to have been increasing what I can charge for IRL DJ performances, which is where the vast majority of my income comes from, even if my twitch and YT might not be that big. My future strategy is to build DJ sets for streamers that won't get them VOD blocked - I'm hoping when the multi-twitch function goes live I can DJ live while a streamer does their thing - kind of acting like The Roots do for Jimmy Fallon.

How many streamers do you think would be making enough money from a stream to hire you that don't care about their vods being muted don't have access to copyright free music already and would trust you enough to not just end your session in the middle of their stream. You couldn't be live 24/7 either.

A number of streamers have reached out to me and are using my mixes. Twitch is cracking down on music, and it's part of the TOS, so they need it. Some of the mixes they use are pre-recorded. I've also DJed on a few streamers channels. When I DJ for a streamer they wouldn't be restreaming me. I'd be DJing specifically for them (bc they don't want to hear me thanking new followers etc). Also I've written some streamer intro songs and audio branding. Hope that made sense. Thanks for the comment!

Ive been doing tons of research on twitch and taking all the advice I get seriously. I unlocked my affiliate status within a week and ive been grinding non stop. Getting tons of feedback from amazing people who stumbled upon my channel. You've helped me improve my stream so much. Thank you! I feel like I have a better understanding of the twitch meta. The only thing im struggling with is finding my identity on twitch. I would consider myself above average when it comes to skill in game and my concurrent viewers say they find me entertaining to watch. I want to start making youtube videos, but im having trouble figuring out what to make them about. My plan was to just upload highlights and gameplay from my stream, but I feel like there is already so much content like that and mine will just get buried under millions of similar videos. Trim the random games down to about 5. Stream the game you want to focus on longer. If you stream say 5 days make 3 of those that game you want to focus on. Make one day where you start with that game and switch to another random game half way thru your stream. Spend the other day just doing your random games. I'd say nothing less then a two hour block for each.

In my life I have so many people ask me about this just because I used to stream and make videos sometimes (and now find myself on this channel to get back into it) so many people have so many questions about this kind of thing, I'm sure you could find an audience. Especially when you get into the more specialized needs like people who need to run set up productions for say tabletop games or streaming tournaments or other live events. sad part is you're not going to make a 6 figure income on twitch unless your already getting 100's of thousands of subs or $200+ in bit's/donations everyday, another thing is you have to pay attention to what big names are streaming and at what times because they'll have huge draws of twitch viewers flooding to them, 3 the fact that i know a lot of people are trying to do the same thing and depending on how many people are in the same category as you they might not scroll to find you, even if you do use social media not everyone is going to be interested in your channel if your not the type of person they like to watch or find you to be over the top, streaming full time has a lot of variables and telling people it's easy or i can do it in two weeks is bound to cause a lot of disillusion

EXACTLY my point. So many people are trying to go full-time on Twitch, without realizing they can stream as much as they want if they build a smarter side business. We don't have to wait for subs/bits/tips/viewers to go full-time.

Ya to make 100k in a year without taking any fees out and saying all subs were normal (2.33) and never got a Prime sub (2.5) you'd need to have 42919 subs over the whole year so you'd have to maintain over 3500 subs per month. If you factor in about 10% of those being Prime subs the amount you'd make from bits (even small streamers I've seen normally clear $50 a month with 50 loyal viewers) running ads and of course direct donations add that all together and the sub amount you'd need is really a lot less then we first start with. Your math was a bit wrong getting $200 in bits/donations every day as it alone will almost get you the 100k LUL

Altho I live in the poorest lowest earning part of Canada and have the benefit of the US exchange rate I'd be happy living on 20K, 30K would be a dream anything more would just be cream.

A stream might be a good way to sell stuff, but If you just stop streaming and focus on your new business you might be even more successful. So if that's the advice, why stream at all? This really sounds like those people that get rich writing books telling others how to get rich... Could you tell me how is it different from those schemes?

Romulino I get what your saying, but I see it as a quicker way to become a full time streamer, I majority of successful streamers sell mech, advertise games etc etc to be able to afford all the things they need/want. I do believe yes you don’t need to sell your services to be a full time streamer but if you do it only based on streaming and playing video games it will just take longer than if you provided something useful to the community but also makes you some side cash
