@emilybrown67832 күн бұрын
I agree. Come on BBC
@ClydeJ.6.6.62 күн бұрын
Probably because of performance enhancers. Bbc prob don't want to promote a sport that's not got testing in place. Frowned upon to take enhancers but fine to protect Saville and Co.

Same shit for Michael Dunlop, wasn't even in the the top so you could vote for him...beats his Uncle Joey's all-time TT RACE win record pushes upto 29 by the end of the week. So this is 10 years plus at the top of his sport and diddly squat mention again....thats why I don't bother with Sports personality of the year anymore, its only the people who compete in sport the BBC give major coverage to....

Mitch said himself that the hand/grip issue was no excuse, and it happened because he hadn't trained that properly. Also, having watched your technique in the viking press and axle, I think you'd crush him if you can work on that technique to either use a split jerk on axle or even just push more through with your legs, because you were almost strict pressing by the last rep. 220 axle wr next year maybe?
@cody6550Күн бұрын
Well it is a pretty valid excuse if he wanted to use it as one, he was injured and underperformed because of it. Sadly it's just a part of the sport though, mitch's 2nd place result just show how much of an insane athlete he is. Still proud of Tom though, especially after dropping the ball at the Shaw Classic.

@Ian-if2lfКүн бұрын
yeah can you imagine guys with crazy strong shoulders doing spit jerk? like hall doing a 216 strict press Bibby maybe? split jerking ? 230 is going up, maybe the split jerk should be seen as a different lift?

@@Ian-if2lf they are just ridiculous human beings tbh, no way 99% of the people would continue after that
@Ian-if2lf15 сағат бұрын
@@cody6550 But it is also true that all strongmen are carrying some sort of injury, pain, niggle that they would keep secret at most times, torn hands are common and considered niggle level, Hoop would still have lost even if his hands were kept whole.

Its the only thing with social media. Whether luke has done wrong in his personal life, we cant take away that he's a bloody good strongman. I am sure we all know people that make wrong decisions or could deal with issues differently, do you just cast them aside too? No you probably don't. We don't know the family personally just what we see on socials. Yes kushi will have it tough & no doubt Luke knows what he's done. Providing the children involved are supported/cared for thats all the general public need to know. We don't need to know the rest.

When I heard about Hooper's injury I thought it severely impacted his ability, but watching last night I realised how few events he could use the injury as an excuse for... Conan's Wheel doesn't use his palms... Keg Toss was more fingertips on the release... Stones he would have come second regardless... Axle, he would have had 0.5 more points had he hit the WR, which wasn't a guarantee anyway... Deadlift and Giant's Medley are arguably the only events he dropped points on because of injury, and even then, there's no guarantee he would have won them.
@charliehmi762 күн бұрын
Yep, he was beaten fair and square.
@JohnDuffy-bq8wgКүн бұрын
Yes he lost by a fair margin not half a point or 2 points, mitch is a great strongman but the pace of wsm definitely suits Tom, but who knows if Tom gets his back and hip sorted he may well win a few other tournaments this year he certainly has the tools when fully fit

Great vid, Tom. That was your world’s 100%. I think hooper tore his hands because he kept trying and trying to pick up the farmers when his grip wasn’t up to it. His deadlift was impaired but it didn’t matter because even if he won it you had more than enough points overall. Let’s see some titles in the Stoltman household from the other majors this year 💪🏻
