My favourite discovery is finding people like Milt Kahl and legendary Disney, animators who you assume do everything on 1's and go crazy, actually use a lot of "shortcuts" even on great shots. The real pros use shortcuts and retain that quality.

The point at 7:05 is one that has helped me the most. I made a character sheet for my roommate for a project of hers, but she was still indecisive of the colors she wanted and I learned from trying to do this before that sheis incredibly indecisive. I took the time to set up the character sheet ahead of time where she could adjust each colors' hue, shade and saturation separately and let her play with it to her liking. It might have taken quite a bit of time and effort to set up each color to be its own layer for her to edit however she wanted (and make the layers foolproof in case she messes with the layering and files too much), but that extra time saved me days if not weeks of indecisive changes! She was able to get back to me with definitive colors she wanted because she was able to decide on them on her own accord without the stress of taking up my time or worrying about making changes after putting in a lot of work. At this point, no amount of tedious effort is too much if it's for a reusable tool or asset for myself and others. Putting in the work now to save myself later is well worth it!

Gotta love when someone refuses to change, adapt, or try anything new but it's somehow everyone else's fault that things aren't working out for them. Seen that with a few artists now.

Some of this I noticed that I automatically do. I want to get the point, not to polish elbows and wonder why it takes me 50 years to get 5 minutes done. Polished animation, looks better when you also have less polished animation next to it for comparison. If everything is perfect all the time, it makes perfection appear casual.

Hi mate. I’m very new to animation. The effects that you mentioned in the video (splashes, crashes, impact lines etc) you said you could upload them to your gumroad to sell online. Do you happen to have any of these as packs for sale? I’ve just had a look at your gumroad page and couldn’t see any. Many thanks.

What if you are writing a script and it takes you a long time to finish it
@PlaguePriest88
@PlaguePriest88 2 жыл бұрын
write something very fast, no matter how lame or cliche it turns out, just do it. Then you have a finished script and you just need to rework it until you're satisfied. It just takes the mental burden of not having something fully done. Reworking is easier, especially when you get ''in the zone''
